Marco Scutaro made Jimmy Rollins, Joe Blanton, Chase Utley and basically the rest of the Philadelphia Phillies roster look foolish during the third inning last Thursday. Scutaro drew a walk from Blanton, a routine play that normally sees the play take his base without much in the way of pomp and circumstance. But Scutaro, seeing a Phillies infield that seemed asleep at the wheel, made the best of it. To borrow from the Phillies CSN color man, what happened next was embarrassing. Click the image below to view the video from MLB.com. From the moment he took off from the batter's box Marco Scutaro was surveying the field. He saw an opportunity and he took it. That, ladies and gentleman, is what they call a heads-up play. The only way this could have been better was if Toronto had a player on third and tried to pull off the revered double steal.
