Here we figured all these years that Jim Thome spent his winters in a double wide in Peoria, IL and scraped by because he was an Every Man. We’ve been lied to by broadcasters who’ve given Thome his Paul Bunyan mystique, yet the guy is now living in a house with his & hers showers. Just look at that bathroom. Never seen a double wide with marble floors before. We’ve had enough, baseball broadcasters. The guy doesn’t eat deer meat in December.

Our friends at Curbed have put together a nice report on what Thome has been up to in the suburban Chicago housing market. Yes, we said suburbs. MLB’s Mr. Paul Bunyan lives in the ‘burbs. Mr. Simple Man eats food from God only knows which Whole Foods in the area. Can he even kill a deer anywhere close to Burr Ridge, IL?

Thome just bought this pad that has 17 total rooms. Yes, 17! Did Paul Bunyan have an island kitchen? Jim Thome does. Did Paul Bunyan have or need a tennis court? Jim Thome has one.

Highlights of Jim Thome’s New Mansion:

• 6 bed, 6.2 baths

• 7-car garage

• Racquetball court entry corridor

• Lots of limestone!

• Nearly an acre of land

• Theater

• Blah, blah, blah

Paid: $4,600,000!
