The New York Mets snapped their four game losing streak on Saturday with a 4-3 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Johan Santana earned his first win of the season after going seven innings and giving up 3 runs on 9 hits while striking out 5.  More amazing than the fact that New York’s bats provided Johan with more than 3 runs was that the bullpen held onto a 1 run lead as Bobby Parnell earned his 5th hold of the year with a scoreless 8th inning and Frank Francisco closed things out for his 6th save of the season.

Daniel Murphy started the offensive charge for the Mets in the bottom of the fourth inning with his first of four singles on the afternoon.  New York plated for in the fourth and that would be all that Santana and the pen would need to get back on the winning track and above the .500 mark.  Murphy’s four hit afternoon raised his average to .315 for the season and with 2 more RBI Andres Torres has now driven in at least one run in all five of his games since returning from the disabled list.

R.A. Dickey gets the call tomorrow as the Mets go for the series win against Trevor Cahill and the D-Backs at 1:10 p.m.
