Long after his playing days are over, and he is enshrined into the Hall of Fame as a New York Met (God willing!), Johan Santana might have a future ahead of him as GM.
During a conference call with reporters today, the Mets' prized lefthander weighed in on the Derek Lowe signing and had a few things to say about Oliver Perez as well.
About Derek Lowe to the Braves:
"I don't think this is the end of the world. I'm pretty sure Omar (Minaya) is still working and still trying to improve our rotation. ... He still has some time to get some other guys."
About Oliver Perez:
"I think Oliver is a pitcher who learned a lot from last year. Hopefully, Omar will find a way to keep him because he's matured a lot. I think he learned that every game is important. ... He's not just a great guy, a great teammate, but he's going to be a great pitcher."
