Although the Red Sox have a manager for the moment, rumors are still swirling that former Sox pitching coach and current Toronto Blue Jays manager John Farrell could leave the Jays at season's end to become the Red Sox manager. Farrell decided to stay out of the mess by simply saying, "I'm under contract here." This isn't the first time that the Red Sox have tried to poach the Jays skipper. Last year, the Red Sox were said to be interested in Farrell and the Jays set the asking price for Farrell at pitcher Clay Buchholz. The Red Sox backed off and hired Bobby Valentine instead. However, news out of Boston is that players are less than thrilled with Bobby Valentine and that has led to the newest round of rumors in Toronto and Boston. Red Sox upper management has given Valentine a "vote of confidence" and there are no plans to fire him at this time. After potentially losing their skipper last season, the Jays made a change in club policy that prevents employees to break contracts in order to make lateral moves. Before, Jays employees were able to leave for new jobs if they wanted to, but it was rumored that they could only if were a promotion.
