Johnny Damon isn’t quite ready to retire. After 18 years in the majors that included stints with the Royals, Athletics, Red Sox, Yankees, Tigers, Rays and Indians, the 39-year-old told The Boston Globe that he would be open to playing in the 2013 season. “I liked being home last season with my kids,” Damon said while attending David Ortiz‘ golf tournament. “But I’m in shape and if I could play, I would. We’ll see what happens. I still think I have something left if I am used the right way.” Damon played 64 games with the Indians last season before being  released in August. In 207 at-bats with the club, Damon contributed a .222 batting average with four home runs and 19 RBIs. Through 18 seasons in Major League Baseball, the veteran outfielder has belted 235 long balls and 1,139 RBIs to go along with a .284 average. In the process, he propelled the Red Sox to the 2004 World Series and keyed the Yankees to a championship in 2009. Earlier in the offseason, Damon played for Thailand in a World Baseball Classic qualifying round.
