PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Roy Halladay threw seven sharp innings and the Philadelphia Phillies broke out of their offensive slump, beating the Marlins 7-1 on Wednesday night in Miami's first game without suspended manager Ozzie Guillen.
A once-potent offense that's missing Chase Utley and Ryan Howard struggled in the first four games, scoring eight runs total. But they rocked Marlins ace Josh Johnson, chasing the big right-hander in the fourth.
Carlos Ruiz hit a solo homer and a double. Jimmy Rollins, Hunter Pence and Shane Victorino -- the Phillies' 3-4-5 hitters -- were 7 for 13 with three RBIs and four runs.
Before the game, the focus was on Guillen. He was suspended five games by the Marlins on Tuesday for saying he admired Cuban dictator Fidel Castro.

The Miami Marlins fell to the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday by a score of 7-1 as Josh Johnson had one of the worst starts of his career. The loss dropped the Marlins to 2-4 on the year and came in a game that was expected to be a pitchers duel with Roy Halladay starting for the Phillies. Joey Cora managed the team in the first of five games that Ozzie Guillen will...
The only winner–so far–for the Philadelphia Phillies in a fistful of aces is Roy Halladay. Can Cholley Manuel discover a productive lineup to back his starters? Can he push the right buttons to squeak out a few victories?

After only five games of what was supposed to be a season of promise and positives, the Miami Marlins organization is reeling following manager Ozzie Guillen's controversial comments regarding his praising of Cuba's Fidel Castro.

Roy Halladay turned in a second straight dominating effort and the Philadelphia Phillies' dormant offense came to life in a 7-1 win over the visiting Miami Marlins.
Marlins starter Josh Johnson (0-2) gave himself an early lead with an RBI groundout in the second inning, but gave it back and more when the Phillies tagged him for five runs in the third.

The Phils explodes for seven runs in support of a five-hit effort by their ace Roy Halladay, as they defeated the Marlins, 7-1.
The Marlins took the lead in the second as, with a runner on third, and with one man out, Josh Johnson hits an RBI ground out, 4-3, knocking in Omar Infante, who had earlier doubled, then moved up to third base on John Buck’s fly out to right, giving...
It was so nice of the Phillies offense to stop by Citizens Bank Park for a visit on Wednesday night. I do hope they stay awhile.
After scoring only 8 runs in their first 4 games of the season combined, it was very encouraging to see the Phils pick up 7 more last night. And there is never a better time to start swinging the bats than when Roy Halladay is on the mound.

Most Philadelphians are going Flyers, in the first round of the playoffs against Pittsburgh, Phillies with Roy Halladay on the hill and the Sixers trying to hold onto their slim playoff hopes.
In that order.
For me, it would be a no-brainer with the Flyers opening up against Sidney Crosby and the Penguins, but Doc Halladay is on the hill and...
It was aces galore around Major League baseball on Wednesday. If you had Wednesday's starting pitchers as a poker hand in a high stakes game against the Devil, you'd say confidently, “I bet my soul on this hand.” Unfortunately, he'd pull a royal flush out of his goat ass and you'd burn for eternity. What a rube you are, trusting the Devil. Matter of fact, I...
