Picture The Boston Red Sox were able to pick up their fourth consecutive victory on Monday night with a 6-1 win over the Seattle Mariners. Jon Lester finally returned to form, pitching a complete game to get his second win on the season.

David Ortiz got things going with an RBI double in the first inning that scored Dustin Pedroia. Adrian Gonzalez then hit a RBI double of his own scoring Ortiz to give the Sox a 2-0 lead.

That would prove to be plenty for Lester, as he was in command of the Mariners offense all night. Kyle Seager was responsible for Seattle's lone run with an RBI ground out in the ninth.

The young-guns, Daniel Nava and Will Middlebrooks, have been the spark behind the four game win streak for Boston. Nava, who has been on a tear since being called up from Pawtucket on May 10, added a two-run homerun in the fourth that scored Cody Ross. A few batters later, Kelly Shoppach hit his first homerun of the season to make the score 5-0.

Josh Beckett will try and get things back on track after his last outing didn't go so well. Beckett has been under heavy pressure from the media the past few weeks with his decision to go golfing on his off day and then getting racked at home against the Cleveland Indians. A dominant outing against the weak Seattle lineup will certainly be a step in the right direction. Blake Beavan will get the start for Seattle in the finale of the two-game series. Boston will then head to Tampa Bay for a two-game series with the first place Rays.

TL;DR Jon Lester dominated the Mariners on Monday night in a 6-1 victory, their fourth consecutive win.

Recap: Lester goes the distance in 6-1 win against the Mariners

Now that was a pitching performance that this team needed! Jon Lester allowed just one run on eight hits at the lefty goes the distance against the Mariners, leading the team to a 6-1 victory. Lester had his contol all game as he didn't allow a single baserunner until the fourth and didn't face any serious threat until the seventh and he worked out of that. The lone run...

Lester Pitches Complete Game Gem in Sox Win!

The Red Sox were riding a 3 game winning streak and were handing the ball over to Jon Lester in hopes of keeping the trend of quality starting pitching going.  That is just what Lester did.  He not only gave a quality start, but he pitched a complete game and was "this close" to pitching a shutout.  Lester looked great from the first inning and kept it up the entire...

Lester Hurls Gem, Sox Cruise To 6-1 Win Over Mariners

Jon Lester looked like JON LESTER tonight, throwing a complete game as the Red Sox rolled to their 4th straight win with a 6-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners. Lester didn't allow a hit until the 4th inning, and didn't allow a ball out of the infield until there was one out in the 5th inning. He struck out 6 and didn't walk a batter. His record improved to 2-3 and...

Lester pitches complete game in Red Sox victory

BOSTON -- Boston Red Sox left-hander Jon Lester recorded a complete-game victory, losing his shutout in the ninth inning as Boston beat the Seattle Mariners 6-1 on Monday. Lester did not allow a hit until there were two outs in the fourth inning, when Ichiro Suzuki broke up Lester's bid for his second career no-hitter with a comebacker that bounced off Lester's glove for...

Lester's complete game is latest gem from Boston's resurgent rotation

There's an easy explanation for why the Boston Red Sox have won four consecutive games. Better pitching. Including Jon Lester's 119-pitch complete game Monday night in a 6-1 win over the Seattle Mariners, Red Sox pitchers have posted a 1.98 ERA in four games since Friday night. And it starts with the starters. Clay Buchholz, Felix Doubront, Daniel Bard and Lester all...

Red Sox News & Notes - 5/15

Jon Lester had made two starts at Fenway Park in 2012. And he hadn't fared too well in them going 0-1 with an 11.25 ERA (10 ER/8 IP). That all changed on Monday night against the Seattle Mariners as the offense backed up his 119 pitch complete game effort in a 6-1 win. For one, he was the first Red Sox starting pitcher to make it into the 9th inning let alone pitch a complete...

Mariners-Red Sox Preview

When the Boston Red Sox have turned to their ace in recent times of turmoil, Jon Lester has rarely delivered a victory. Perhaps he'll be better with the team riding a winning streak. The struggling left-hander looks to bring Boston a fourth consecutive win Monday night when the Seattle Mariners begin a brief stop at Fenway Park. In between Lester's 2007 return from cancer...

Quote of the Day

“I wasn’t coming out of that game unless we scored 10.  For me, it was my game, and Bobby was going to have to fight me for the ball if he came to the end of the dugout." -Jon Lester on pitching a complete game last night.

Afternoon Red Sox Delight - 5/14

After taking three-of-four from the Cleveland Indians, including the final three, the Boston Red Sox look to finish up the six-game homestand on a positive note. Tonight, they'll take on the Seattle Mariners in the first game of a brief two-game set at Historic Fenway Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on NESN in the Red Sox television...

Last-place BoSox still in AL East race

Who are the Boston Red Sox? Are they the team that owns the longest active winning streak in the American League, that Monday throttled Seattle 6-1 behind the dominant Jon Lester, that has scored more runs than every AL club save the mighty Texas Rangers? Or the one that remains last in the American League East, with a losing record and the same win total as the lowly Mariners...

Enemy Chatter: The Sox never fail to hit the Green Monster

I often wonder what opposing teams, their beat reporters and bloggers are saying about the Red Sox after playing the Red Sox. Here's a dose of 'enemy chatter' from Seattle. “You come to the plate, you can’t help seeing that left-field wall, it looks right there,” Dustin Ackley said. “I think their players adapt to it. Right-handers pull the ball...

Boston Red Sox Sweep Seattle Mariners in Two Game Series

The Boston Red Sox were able to sweep the Seattle Mariners in a quick two game set in the past two days. They have now won five games in a row, a win per starting pitcher, which is important for this staff. Both Jon Lester and Josh Beckett pitched very well when they were needed. [...]

Beckett Dominant As Sox Roll To 5th Straight

Perhaps taking a page from teammate Jon Lester's complete game performance the night before, Josh Beckett put his stamp on the Red Sox 5th straight win, 5-0 over the Mariners at Fenway Park.Beckett was perfect through 3 innings and didn't allow a hit until there were 2 outs in the 4th inning. His afternoon ended with 7 innings, 0 runs on 4 hits, 9 strikeouts and a pair of...
