Buster Olney reports that the Mets and Dodgers have had talks about a possible trade between the ball clubs that would send Luis Castillo to Los Angeles and Andruw Jones to the Big Apple.
However, he notes that talks between the two teams have not occurred since the winter meetings; however both would be open to such a deal taking place.
Jones, who hit for an abysmal .158 average last season, hopes that maybe a change of scenery will bring back the impressive power numbers he had in his days with Atlanta.
The question is where would either player fit on their new ball club?
The Dodgers already have a promising young second baseman in Blake Dewitt, whereas the Mets have an outfield full of highly talented, young players.
Maybe the Mets plan to trade Ryan Church or possibly just use Jones as a reserve off the bench.
More importantly for Mets fans, though, is that such a deal would open up the door for them to sign highly regarded free agent second baseman, Orlando Hudson.
