Forget the club record six-year contract.

All of Baltimore belongs to Adam Jones.

The Orioles' center fielder proclaimed Sunday that Baltimore is now his town after signing a six-year, $85.5 million contract extension, buying out his final contract year and adding five years onto Jones' Orioles career.

Jones, 26, staked the claim while also suggesting he may be on the way to becoming the next career-long Oriole. Since being acquired from Seattle in a trade headlined by left-hander Erik Bedard in February 2008, Jones has been the promising talent that fans and analysts feared would leave for a big contract elsewhere.

But a hot start to the 2012 season -- by both Jones and the Orioles -- expedited contract talks. Jones' agent arrived in Baltimore last week and the deal was all but complete by Friday.

The deal includes a number of incentives that could make the entire package worth another $6 million. His average annual salary is $14.25 million -- another club record. There's also a no-trade clause.

He becomes the No. 2 paid center fielder in baseball behind Dodgers star Matt Kemp.

The former Mariners first-round pick has flourished in 2012. He's showing the power the club hoped would appear over time -- and is on pace for 40-plus homers -- while also providing Gold Glove defense in center field.

Jones will be 32 when he becomes a free agent, meaning -- if healthy -- he could be in for another big payday. If he earns another megadeal, that would be good news for the Orioles, too.
