Adam Jones was done.

After playing 29 innings of baseball in 24-plus hours, the former Mariners prospect had enough. He launched a 385-foot homer in the 11th inning Wednesday that gave the Baltimore Orioles a 3-1 win and a series sweep at Seattle.

The victory marked the 15th consecutive extra-inning win for Baltimore, and it kept the Orioles within a half-game of first place in the American League East. The New York Yankees moved back on top by sweeping a doubleheader from the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the last team with a longer extra-inning winning streak was the 1949 Indians, who won 17 in a row.

Jones' home run was his 30th of the season, extending his single-season career high.

The young star has been clutch in 2012. The Orioles are 21-8 when he has homered. Three of his 30 homers have tied games, and 16 more have given Baltimore a lead.

The Orioles rolled out eight pitchers Tuesday in order to work through 18 innings. They got by with just six Wednesday, as Joe Saunders threw eight innings of one-run ball.

Jim Johnson came on to close out the win, allowing two hits and a walk before finishing off his 45th save of the year.

There is some light at the end of the tunnel for the Orioles. After a grueling West Coast swing, the club has Thursday off.
