Found April 10, 2013 on Nationals Enquirer:
Jordan Zimmermann smiled one time during an April 2012 postgame interview. He also may have cracked a smile in a 2013 interview after a Spring Training start. In a stunning development, Jordan Zimmermann smiled and appered to have told a joke during his postgame meet and greet with the media on Wednesday night, following his 7 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 4 K, 90 pitch performance against the White Sox. Here's Zimmermann talking about the delayed start to the game (umps got stuck in DC traffic): Zimmermann: "I had plenty enough time. They let me know pretty early, and they just said that, gonna be a little delayed, be prepared to sit around a little bit." Reporter: "So what did you do to..." Zimmermann: "Sat around, yeah." [Big smile, seen above. That's a joke, people!] Nationals 5, White Sox 2: File under: When Jordan Zimmermann smiles, the world smiles along with him. Plenty of run support; Bryce Harper hit one up into Adam Dunn territory. ...

Nationals fans seek to end 'The Wave'

A group of Washington Nationals fans are so intent to put an end to people in the stands at Nationals Park doing "The Wave" they have created a flier.

Update: Nats players hate DC traffic, love the cherry blossoms

Cherry blossom! Very cool thing to see! #DC twitter.com/Bharper3407/st… — Bryce Harper (@Bharper3407) April 10, 2013 Since arriving back in D.C. for the summer, several Nats players have Tweeted their displeasure with DC traffic; this week Denard Span Tweeted his complaints while stuck in a traffic jam on his way to Nationals Park. And of course, Wednesday night's...

HBO's Veep teams with Teddy in Nationals Presidents race (Video)

The Presidents race at Tuesday night's Washington Nationals game was turned into a shameless plug for the HBO series "Veep" as a 10-foot likeness of lead actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus was teamed with Teddy Roosevelt for the three-team relay race. Louis-Dreyfus plays United States Vice President Selina Meyer in the series, and a likeness of Meyer was sent to the game...

Davey Johnson on how to slow down Bryce Harper: Shoot him with a dart gun

There is no denying that Washington Nationals young superstar Bryce Harper plays the game with a youthful exuberance and a relentless aggressiveness befitting of his age. At 20, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that Harper, while supremely talented and potential perhaps not yet realized, is still prone to making mistakes typical of an inexperienced baseball player with...

Nationals 5, White Sox 2

Bryce Harper homered, Ian Desmond had three extra-base hits, Danny Espinosa provided his first two RBIs of the season, and the Washington Nationals beat the Chicago White Sox 5-2 Wednesday night to stay unbeaten at home. In a game that began 16 minutes late because, the Nationals explained, the umpires got stuck in traffic, Washington starter Jordan Zimmermann (2-0) limited Chicago...

Nats Hold On To Earn Fifth Victory Of The Season

The Washington Nationals survived yet another poor bullpen performance last night en route to their fifth victory of the season, a 8-7 win over the Chicago White Sox. It was a sloppy game overall for the Nationals. While they officially only committed one error in the game, multiple mental mistakes both in the field and at the plate cost them throughout, making the...

Welcome back to Washington, Adam Dunn

Too bad there's no DH in the NL, eh? Seems like only yesterday Adam Dunn was wearing a "Natinals" jersey and  pleading for fans to save the baby oysters in the Bay and welcoming rookies to the Big Leagues, and sneaking up to talk to Bob Uecker in the Brewers radio booth, and, of course, hitting bombs. Raise your hand if you got nervous after Rafael Soriano turned...

Betting On baseball: Favourites To Win The World Series This Season

Although the pre-season odds for the new MLB season show that the Washington Nationals are the favourites to win the World Series – with odds of just 8/1 – the situation for those looking to bet on the outcome is not as simple as all that. The odds information available at sports betting sites suggests that this is going to be a very exciting and competitive MLB season, with...

Gavin Floyd hung a slider to Bryce Harper and now he’s never going to see it again

On a night when Gavin Floyd had great stuff to start with (he had allowed only an Ian Desmond double to this point), Bryce Harper was waiting in the weeds. What follows in the video is his fourth home run of the season, and 26th of his career. It tied the game at 1-1 in a game the Nationals would eventually win 5-2. When you look at Harper, he doesn’t look like a guy who has...

Washington Nationals game delayed because umpires were stuck in traffic

The start of the Washington Nationals-Chicago White Sox game was delayed on Wednesday night because the umpires were stuck in traffic. Seriously. The game was scheduled to begin at 7:05 p.m. ET but didn’t start until around 7:20 p.m. because of the umpires’ delayed arrival. The late start may have affected the rhythm of Nats starter Jordan Zimmerman, who gave up two hits and...

John Wall Redeems Himself With Much-Improved First Pitch at Nationals Game (Video)

Everyone deserves a second chance, and that’s exactly what the Washington Nationals gave Wizards guard John Wall on Thursday night. In 2011, Wall threw out one of the worst ceremonial first pitches of all time. This time, Wall got a shot at redemption. After Wall was reminded of his failure by the Nationals’ mascot, the Wizards point guard took the hill and lofted a pitch that...

John Wall Throws Out First Pitch At Nationals Game, Redeems Himself

Two years ago, John Wall threw an epically horrible first pitch at the Washington Nationals game. Let’s just say it didn’t exactly cross the plate. Thursday, he got the chance to redeem himself from what had to be one of the worst first pitches of all time. This time, the Wizards point guard went in with a plan, intending to “just lob it” this time. It worked much, much better.

April 11: Washington Nationals 7, Chicago White Sox 4

The Washington Nationals completed the sweep of our beloved White Sox Thursday night when they defeated the Pale Hose 7-4. The Sox are now 4-5 as they head back to American League play where they'll face the Indians and Blue Jays in two more road series. AXELROD’S ROUGH OUTING It wasn’t a good start for Dylan Axelrod, and in all honesty, he’s lucky it...

Nats Sweep White Sox For Second Consecutive Home Sweep

The Nationals successfully swept the White Sox with a 7-4 win in the final game of the series, and they remained an undefeated 6-0 at home on the season. It's another key win as the Nationals prepare to host their main rival, the Atlanta Braves, this weekend. Dan Haren had a chance at redemption on Thursday after having a disastrous Nationals opener in Cincinnati in what...
