Blue Jays Rant:
After a weekend against the Yankees that was spent mostly without their best player, the Blue Jays are about to get a double dose of reinforcements, with Jose Bautista and Casey Janssen both slated to return to the club for the start of Tuesday’s game against the Seattle Mariners.
Bautista has missed 3 games thanks to a (mostly unncessary and arguably ill-advised) slide into 3rd base during this past Friday’s game against the Yankees. While it didn’t look good to begin with, tests showed no serious damage, and it was hoped that he might be able to return for Sunday’s finale. It looks like the team will give him the extra couple of days to make sure the swelling around his ankle has subsided, before placing the slugger back at 3rd, where Edwin Encarnacion has played over the last 3 days (with no errors, no less!). The team has scored just 3 runs over the last couple of games without Bautista, so his presence in the middle of the lineup is – as always ...
