PLAYERS: Jose Fernandez
TEAMS: Miami Marlins
Your browser does not support iframes. Miami Marlins starting pitcher Jose Fernandez is not accustomed to running the bases very much, if at all. That may have contributed to the trouble Fernandez had putting on his coat after he made it to first base with an RBI single in Saturday night's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. Fernandez seemed to have trouble with the zipper on his coat and, after getting a little help from first base umpire Chris Guccione, opted to pull the coat over his head. However, that didn't go so smoothly, either. In the end, Fernandez received almost as much applause from the crowd for finally getting his coat on than he did for driving in the Marlins run. Unfortunately, it was the only run of the game for the Marlins as they lost to the Phillies 2-1. Video via MLB.com. Visit us at holdoutsports.com and follow us on Twitter @HoldoutSports.

LeBlanc Knocked Around

On Monday, the Miami Marlins did not receive a good start which is something that has been rare this season.   The Washington Nationals took the game 10-4 after scoring seven runs off of Miami starter, Wade LeBlanc.   The loss moved the Marlins to 2-11 on the season and moved them further back in the National League East.   It was the fourth time that the Nationals have beaten...

Bats Come Alive For Miami

It was a rare sight at Marlins Park on Tuesday as the Miami Marlins put on an offensive show.   Miami scored eight runs on eleven hits for their biggest offensive showing of the season thus far.   The 8-2 win over the Washington Nationals moved the Marlins to 3-11 on the season and gave them their first win over the Nats in five tries.  Alex Sanabia improved to 2-1 and he leads...

Miami Loses Another Close One

On Sunday, the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Miami Marlins by a final score of 2-1 to take the three game series.   It was yet another game that Miami had a chance to win but fell short on.  Despite a 2-10 record, the Marlins have been in every game but one and have received terrific efforts from the starting rotation.  However, the offense has been an issue all season long...

The Phils win their second straight series as they split their last two games with the fish, losing and winning by the similar score of 2-1.

The Phils are involved in a pair of pitchers’ dues, as they split their last two games with the Marlins while they go on to win their second straight series. On Saturday night, the Marlins broke up a 0-0 tie in the bottom of the fifth as, with a man on third, and with two men out, Jose Fernandez hits an RBI single, knocking in Adeiny Hechavarria, who had just tripled, giving the...

Nats Travel To Florida To Face Floundering Marlins

The Washington Nationals (7-5) recently experienced what it’s like to be swept, and they would like nothing more than to remind the Miami Marlins (2-10) of the feeling. The Nats swept the Marlins in the first series of the season, and after dropping their last three contests to the Atlanta Braves, they will hope to repeat their early level of success again in Florida. This...
