Jose Iglesias battled like a champ on Friday night, but it was obvious he wouldn’t be able to finish the game. Iglesias left Friday’s game against the Blue Jays after the third inning with a right arm contusion. Iglesias suffered the injury when he was hit by a 93 mph fastball from Josh Johnson during an at-bat in the second inning. The Red Sox shortstop did all he could to push through, even making a sensational play in the bottom of the third inning. Iglesias tracked down a ground ball in the hole off the bat of Melky Cabrera. He made the snag while traveling away from second base, yet he somehow managed to get enough on his throw to force out the speedy Jose Reyes. Iglesias, who was seen favoring his right arm earlier in the inning, really appeared to be in pain after that play. He ran back to his shortstop position grimacing with his arm hanging by his side. Pedro Ciriaco came on to pinch hit for Iglesias in the top of the fourth inning. Ciriaco went 2-for-4 with an RBI after entering the game. It’s unclear if Iglesias will miss time or how long he’ll be out. If he is sidelined, though, expect Ciriaco to man the shortstop position until Stephen Drew returns. Have a question for Ricky Doyle?
