Found August 02, 2013 on FenwayNation:
Jose Iglesias used TWITTER to express his thanks to the Red Sox organization and fans for supporting him in the early years of his career. He talked about the "love and support" he received from Red Sox Nation and ended the tweet with the following, "Los Amo!". As we said before, we will miss the defensive wizardry the kid brought to the team. We wish him well in MoTown.

Evaluating the Detroit Tigers trade deadline moves

23-year-old Jose Iglesias joins the Tigers in case of a Jhonny Peralta suspension. It had been talked about all year. The Detroit Tigers needed to amp up their bullpen before the trade deadline. So they did that by sending 19-year-old Single-A prospect Danry Vasquez to Houston for reliever Jose Veras. General Manager Dave Dombrowski had to act quickly when he heard it was likely...

Video: Newest Detroit Tigers Acquisition Jose Iglesias Demonstrates Quick Hands

MLive.com’s Chris Iott posted a video highlight package of newly acquired Detroit Tigers shortstop Jose Iglesias from the Boston Red Sox. Even though it is just a short set of clips, it is clear Iglesias is an upgrade from Jhonny Peralta in range, quickness and playmaking ability. Many times throughout the package it looks like Iglesias will have to eat the ball, but is able to...

Iglesias gets Whitaker's No. 1

Louis Rodman Whitaker Jr., a.k.a. Sweet Lou, was a mainstay at second base for the Detroit Tigers for 18-plus seasons. He and his keystone counterpart, shortstop Alan Trammell, hold the record as the longest running double-play combination in major-league history. Whitaker won Rookie of the Year in 1978, three Gold Gloves and four Silver Sluggers. He was also a four-time All-Star...

Iglesias wasn't guaranteed to work in the long run

Sam Galanis Contributing Writer It’s clear that some fans are pretty irked over the departure of Jose Iglesias, boy wonder, for pitcher Jake Peavy. But Zach Stoloff of NESN wrote a piece today that deserves some looking into. Stoloff and NESN lay it all out right in the headline: “Jose Iglesias was never going to be viable major league hitter despite fluke hot streak this season...

New Tiger Jose Iglesias Meets Motown Media

FOX DetroitNew Tiger Jose Iglesias met the Detroit media today before tonight's game against the Chicago White Sox. Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski commented on Iglesias and the teams's shortstop situation, "He's [IGLESIAS] a shortstop for the future of our organization. Jhonny Peralta is our shortstop now. I know the natural question is, 'What does that mean for Peralta...

Jose Iglesias Says Farewell to Red Sox, Thanks Team, Fans for ‘Love and Support’

Many people were surprised to see that Jose Iglesias was part of the late Tuesday trade that brought Jake Peavy to Boston. Iglesias was probably one of them. Iglesias had made Boston his home in recent weeks, solidifying his spot on the major league roster with sterling play at third base. But, with the Red Sox having depth at shortstop and third base in the organization — and...

Iggy says adiós to Boston

The Guru Contributing Writer Jose Iglesias, traded to the Tigers Tuesday, tweeted out his farewell to Fenway today. A big thank you to the @RedSox organization and all of #RedSoxNation for all the love and support these first years of my career. Los amo! — Jose Iglesias (@JoseIglesias_SS) August 1, 2013 The Red Sox will host Iglesias and the Tigers for a three-game series beginning...

Winners and losers of the MLB trade deadline

While it might be too early to tell where some of this year’s deals rank all-time, some of the transactions that went down over the course of the past week are certainly going to pay dividends, one way or another, over the remainder of the regular season. Here are our winners and losers of the 2013 MLB trade deadline. WINNERS Boston Red Sox The reason the Jake Peavy deal vaults...

Red Sox recall 3B Holt to replace Iglesias

The Boston Red Sox have recalled third baseman Brock Holt after trading Jose Iglesias to the Detroit Tigers. Holt was in the starting lineup on Wednesday night against the Seattle Mariners. He hit in Iglesias' usual ninth spot and played his position. Iglesias was part of a three-team, seven-player trade on Tuesday that sent right-hander Jake Peavy to the Red Sox from the Chicago...

Iglesias in Detroit lineup with Cabrera out

In his first game with the Detroit Tigers, Jose Iglesias is replacing Miguel Cabrera, not Jhonny Peralta. Iglesias is starting at third base Friday night against the Chicago White Sox. Cabrera is out for a second straight game - he also missed Wednesday's game against Washington with a strained lower abdomen. Iglesias could soon take over at shortstop for Peralta, who faces...

Shortstop of the future – for somebody else

I’ll admit it: I was one of those people howling in rage and sadness when I heard Jose Iglesias was getting shipped off to the Tigers. I didn’t want Peavy, and I didn’t want to lose Iglesias. Late last night, I didn’t immediately see the wisdom of Ben Cherington’s latest move. Though I am still somewhat sad to see Iglesias go, I’m on board with the Jake Peavy trade...

Xander Bogaerts Is the Future of the Boston Red Sox

Some of the Boston Red Sox fans had mixed reactions when the team traded Jose Iglesias in the three-way trade with the Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox to quire Jake Peavy. There was a reason the Sox traded away a potential future gold glove award winning in Iglesias and his name is Xander Bogaerts.  Bogaerts is one of the best young shortstop prospects in all of baseball as...

Will Middlebrooks, Xander Bogaerts at Heart of Interesting Third Base Debate Following Jose Iglesias’ Departure

BOSTON – The Red Sox face a dilemma, albeit a good one. Now that infielder Jose Iglesias has been shipped to the Tigers as part of the Jake Peavy deal, the Red Sox must decide who to turn to as their starting third baseman. Brock Holt was the first infielder called up Wednesday, and he will serve in a platoon alongside Brandon Snyder for the time being. But that situation might...

The Jake Peavy trade is a good one for Boston

The Red Sox front office is smart. They have a significant amount of resources, and they use them well. In the trade announced late Tuesday night, in which they sent Jose Iglesias to Detroit in a three-way deal for Jake Peavy, Boston used those resources well. Within a very deep farm system, the Red Sox have a strength at shortstop. Jose Iglesias was producing well in...

Game 2013.107: White Sox at Tigers

61-45, 1st place, 2 games up on Cle. What a week of baseball this has been. 1. Our Tigers have been red hot as of late, winning 9/10 and 5 in a row, and have lost ground on the 2nd place White Sox and 3rd place KC Royals. I’d say that the AL Central is En Fuego but the Indians and Royals have been beating up on the White Sox and Twins. 2. Then we have the quietest trade deadline...
