A few days ago, Miami Marlins shortstop Jose Reyes was forced to cut off his long dreadlocks by manger Ozzie Guillen to adhere to the team’s dress code. Reyes complied, but didn’t want to miss the opportunity to make the occasion worth it for charity.
According to this report, the Marlins hosted a live auction for Reyes’ cut dreads which earned a winning bid of $10,200.
Proceeds of the auction which was conducted on EBay are being given directly to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida in the name of the winning bidder who is not yet known at the time of this article.
It’s a commendable gesture by the Marlins who need desperately to establish goodwill in the Miami community to establish a stronger foothold as they re-brand and take the field in a new stadium this summer.
Who knows, maybe the lack of dreads will make the speedy Reyes even speedier.
Now if he can just stay healthy..

Bonified: Sleeper 2012
Emilio Bonifacio enters 2012 the same way he entered 2011…without a lock on a position. Difference in 2012 is that we know it will be somewhere. Social Leadership
