Before yesterday’s game against the Reds, Terry Collins told reporters that catcher Josh Thole has been headache-free for several days. The plan is now for Thole to begin a rehab assignment before he’s activated from the disabled list. The Mets haven’t gotten much offensive help since Thole was sidelined, but the pitchers have said they like throwing to Mike Nickeas who has been the primary catcher in Thole’s absence. The problem with Nickeas is his lack of a consistent offensive side to his game. Thole is certainly not the ideal major league catcher, but for now he’s the Mets’ best option.

Should Josh Thole be Dillon Gee’s personal catcher?

One night after Miguel Batista made the Brewers look impotent, the same team knocked around Dillon Gee pretty good, as they notched 7 ER in 5.1 IP against the interjection (h/t Doug Parker). In his last two starts, Gee has allowed 11 ER in 11 IP. For the season Gee has a 5.65 ERA in 43 IP, pretty much in line with his 5.51 ERA over his final 94.2 IP last year. That seems … bleak...

DJ DFA'd, Carson Promoted: Mets Matinee Lineup V. Reds - May 17, 2012

After last night's brutal Mets loss where Jon Rauch allowed an apparent win by Johan Santana slip away, the Mets designated DJ Carrasco for assignment. Santana pitched a good game, leaving with 2 outs in the seventh and a 3-2 lead.  Bobby Parnell threw a five pitch strikeout to end the inning. Then all Hell broke loose; Rauch came in and allowed 3 runs in one third of an inning. Carrasco

Terry Collins pulls David Wright and what ensued was AWESOME

The New York Mets caught a good ol’ fashion butt kicking at the hands of the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night, but all of that was just a footnote to what occurred during the seventh inning.  Following a solo blast by Rickie Weeks, Mets reliever DJ Carrasco drilled Brewers slugger and last years NL MVP on the next pitch with a “sinker” in the upper part of his left shoulder...

On The Wright Track: Mets Come Back From Four Run Deficit To Win 9-4

Recap: R.A. Dickey took the hill looking for his sixth win of the year, going toe-to-toe with Reds ace Matt Latos. Dickey started off dominant, striking out six in the first four frames, but ran into trouble in the fifth after giving up a solo shot to Joey Votto in the previous inning. Come top five, Dickey gave up three runs on a hit-by-pitch, a walk, a double and a passed ball...

METS SPLIT 2 WITH REDS

METS COME BACK FROM 4-0 AND POUND THE REDS 9 - 4  David Wright is on fire. David Wright once again is clutch and delivers the go ahead run in what became a late inning slug fest for New York. Many of us, The Blob included, have wondered over the past few season if we'd ever see David return to being the great player we once knew. Not only has the old David come back to us, but he seems to

Brew Crew Rock The Mets In 8-0 Blanking

Mets got beaten all-around tonight in an 8-0 Brewers victory. Summary Well, it was not Francisco tonight. There is no nice way to say this – we just did not have it tonight. The offense bit and Collins made one really intriguing decision… Oh, Dillon Gee was not on his game either. So the aforementioned Gee started tonight and pitched into the sixth ineffectively – allowing...

Mets overcome 4-0 deficit to beat Reds

NEW YORK -- The day started with New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson acknowledging that the team's struggling bullpen had been a "frustrating thing" this year and saying he was exploring options to fix it. It ended with the Mets' current relievers doing their own patchwork job with three scoreless innings, and David Wright leading the Mets' offense...

DAVID TERRY GATE

BREWERS 8 - METS 0 At after getting pounded harder than Jenna Jameson in the late 1990's, Dillon Gee must ponder if his 1970's-porno-chin-mangina is throwing off his mechanics. There is not much to debate about Gee's performance tonight. It was a pitching **** storm that a struggling Brew Crew kept jamming tokens in to the Gee BP machine, until the game was quickly...
