Blue Jays Rant:
Could it be that the Blue Jays offense have finally turned a corner coming of yesterday’s win over the Cardinals? They certainly made a sound case for the answer being ‘yes’ tonight, exploding for 5 runs against Cardinals starter Jaime Garcia en route to a 6-3 win.
Sure, the Cardinals are a weakened team right now without the presence of Albert Pujols, but Garcia is no slouch as a starter. In fact, if you look at his pitching line today, it doesn’t actually look all that bad – he went 7 innings against the Blue Jays, allowing just 5 hits while walking 4 – he did allow 5 runs total, but only 1 of them was earned. The Blue Jays got on the board with a sac fly from Adam Lind in the third, but JP Arencibia then reached on a throwing error with 2 outs to keep the inning going. Juan Rivera then took advantage of the lifeline against an otherwise tough pitcher, knocking his 6th home run of the season, a 3-run shot that jolted the Blue Jays to a 5-1 lead...
