When the calendar flipped to June, the Kansas City Royals' offense flipped the off switch.

The Royals have received solid pitching in their first nine games of the month, posting a 3.35 ERA and tossing three shutouts, but they are only 3-6 because the offense is struggling.

Kansas City is hitting .241 for the month -- only Pittsburgh and Baltimore have lower batting averages -- and has scored a scored a big-league-low 24 runs. The Royals are also last with four home runs and 22 RBI.

The Royals rank 13th in the American League in on-base percentage, .293, and slugging percentage, .339, for the month.

For the season, the Royals are hitting .250 with runners in scoring position, which ranks 27th in the big leagues. They went 2-for-12 with RISP in a 3-2 loss Sunday at Pittsburgh.

Manager Ned Yost continues to tinker with his batting order to get the offense to functioning at a higher level, but nothing has worked this month.
