Found February 14, 2012 on Holdout Sports: Yardbarker Blogger Network
It was revealed Monday that Kate Upton is the 2012 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover girl, now at newsstands everywhere. Also released yesterday was a 2K Sports online commercial for the upcoming Major League Baseball 2K12 video game, featuring Upton giving "hands on" tips on proper finger mechanics to major league pitchers. The pitchers starring in the commercial are Detroit Tigers pitcher (and AL Cy Young award winner) Justin Verlander, Tampa Bay Rays pitcher David Price, Cincinnati Reds pitcher Jay Bruce and Los Angeles Angels pitcher C.J. Wilson, who are trying to work their way into "The Perfect Club". The pitchers don't have any lines in the commercial, which probably means 2K Sports saved a little money by not giving them speaking parts. H/T Cosby Sweaters. Justin Verlander would like Kate Upton to teach him how to throw a circle change

Matthew Stafford dodged a question about her, because he's in love with his girlfriend, but we're never going to be bashful about our flove [faux love] for Ms. Kate Upton around these parts, because Nancy Reagan once said something about women, tea bags, water, and durability.Anyway, I just found out the other day that Kate Upton is a huge Michigan fan, which was a nice...

Verlander gets lesson from SI swimsuit model

What do 2012 Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover girl and Michigan native Kate Upton and Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander have in common? Well, they both can be called gorgeous -- Verlander for his repertoire on the mound and Upton for, well, obvious reasons. The two can also be found in a commercial for the not-yet released video game MLB2k12. Verlander, the games cover boy, Tampa...

The Jay Bruce MLB2K12 Commercial

Cool commercial, and I’m hoping for a decent game out of 2ksports. I can’t stop playing NBA 2k12. I just unlocked the Larry Bird ’84 Celts the other night and I am running the point with Larry Legend. If they got anywhere close to their basketball rendition with the baseball game, then we’re onto something. This is coming from a guy who understands all about...

Off-season learning will be key to Jacob Turner's development with Tigers

Tigers ace right-hander Justin Verlander made two starts in his rookie year of 2005. Both times he was knocked around, allowing four-plus runs and seven-plus hits. "Those 100-m.p.h. fastballs were going out just as fast," general manager Dave Dombrowski said last week. "But he learned from it."

Preseason preview by position (OF)

Today begins a 5-day series of posts breaking down the 2012 version of the Reds position-by-position. Similar to last year's preseason preview, we'll do our best in breaking down each player at that position while providing an overall group grade and analysis at the end. Here is a preliminary schedule of what days each position will be featured/published: Day 1: Outfielders...

New scoreboard in works at Comerica Park

The sellout crowd at Comerica Park will roar on Opening Day, taking in its first sights of Prince Fielder in a Tigers uniform and Justin Verlander back on the mound. And if the Tigers' renovation designs go to plan, the scoreboard that looms over left field should be beaming.
