The Boxing Stop:

Amir Khan proved he was no phony.
Khan, using an array of powerful punches from all sorts of angles, destroyed Marco Antonio Barrera in 5 blood filled rounds. Both fighters landed shots in the fight, but Khan was just too big and too fast for the aging legend Barrera.
The fight was officially called a technical win as it was ruled that Barrera was cut by a head butt, but Khan was up on all three scorecards 50-44; 50-45; 50-45.
So what happens now? Khan moves on to face more elite fighters in the 135lb division. No, I don't think he jumps in the ring with Juan Manuel Marquez, but why not a fight on American soil against Juan Diaz? Is it too soon?
As for Barrera, the Mexican superstar may have reached the end of the road. Maybe a farewell fight against lesser competition is in order, or even some sort of goodbye tour where he can rack up even more wins.
Or, maybe he walks away.
One thing is clear, though. For all those out there that thought Amir Khan was not a legit threat and future star, this fight was for you. Amir Khan is not con artist, rather he is a true professional and pugilistic artist of the sport we love.
