Korea made it easy in the semifinal, exploding on Carlos Silva for seven runs in his just over one inning of work. Venezuela could never recover from that and lost 10-2. Korea started Suk-min Yoon, who went a little over six innings to get the win. Venezuela was credited with five errors in the game, though it only resulted in two unearned runs being scored.
The offensive hero for Korea was Shin-soo Choo, who belted a 3-run homer off Silva in the first inning. Choo is the only major leaguer on the Korean team and has not produced as Korea has hoped, hitting only .167 for the tournament. Tae Kyun Kim also went deep for Korea, his third of the tournament, a 2-run shot off Silva in the second. The Koreans managed only 10 hits, but they were very patient throughout the game, drawing eight walks.
