The Tampa Bay Rays have designated Kyle Farnsworth for assignment. Farnsworth, 37, has been ineffective for the most part over 39 appearances this season. A drop in velocity has taken a toll on Farnsworth who owns a 5.76 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP this season. Farnsworth was spending his third season with Tampa Bay, his first of which was 2011 when he claimed the closers role and compiled a 2.18 ERA and 0.99 WHIP over 63 games. Analysis: A team could take a gamble on Farnsworth but his days of being a back of the bullpen anchor are gone.

Rays pull off hidden ball trick against Dodgers

The Tampa Bay Rays pulled off a heads up play that is normally seen around little league fields, not big league ones like Dodger Stadium.  But on a bases-loaded sacrifice fly after all runners tagged up, the Rays infielders (started by former Dodger James Loney) managed to move the ball rather overtly around the infield without the Dodgers seeing it, then catching Dodger Juan Uribe...

Evan Longoria Says Arod Shouldn’t Be On The Field

If anyone deserves to be mad, surely it’s the face of Yankees fellow AL East rival Tampa Bay Rays, Evan Longoria. Longoria did a podcast interview with SI and let his feelings be known on what he thinks about Arod being allowed to play through his suspension: I don’t think it’s fair for the other teams, because I’m in the American League East. Whether he is 100 percent...

Evan Longoria Says Alex Rodriguez Playing During Appeal Isn’t Fair For Rest of American League East

Many people have shared the popular opinion that Alex Rodriguez shouldn’t be allowed to play baseball now — or ever, after the 211-game suspension was handed down to the Yankees third baseman —  on the premise that cheaters take away from the sanctity of America’s pastime. Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria shares that sentiment, but he is far more concerned...
