The Phillies walked off (and out) of a four-game series with the NL Central leading Reds with a split. They salvaged a series loss last night as John Mayberry Jr. delivered a walkoff single to win it in 11 innings. Coming out of a set with one of the NL's best teams and being able to split it is pretty good for the Phils, who still mathematically, have a shot to take a Wild Card spot. At 58-67, the Phillies are in third place in the NL East and sit 10 1/2 games back in the Wild Card standings with 37 games left to play this season. Tonight, the Phils will open up a crucial three-game set with division rival Washington. Kyle Kendrick (6-9, 4.20 ERA) will take on Edwin Jackson (7-8, 3.69 ERA) in game one of this three-game set.
Kyle Kendrick is coming off of his best performance of the season. On Sunday, against Milwaukee, Kendrick tossed eight shutout frames while allowing just three hits and a walk. Kendrick raked in seven Ks to win his sixth game of the year. Kyle Kendrick ...

Placido Polanco is Hurt Again; Phillies Future in Doubt
Just a few days after his activation, Placido Polanco appears to be hurt again. The Inquirer's Matt Gelb reports that Polanco is out of the lineup because it hurts for him to field.
Polanco was to alternate play with infielder Kevin Frandsen upon his return, but last night Polanco sat out his second game in a row. Today will be the third and a disabled list stint is...
Writer’s Roundtable: The Domonic Brown Situation
Domonic Brown looks like he could become the Phillies full-time right fielder next year after trades of Hunter Pence and Shane Victorino have allowed him to be up with the big club for what looks to be a permanent stay.
However, it seems like Philadelphia is split on their opinions of him. Some say he stinks, some say he’s great, and others remain patient that he will reach...

The Philadelphia Phillies Celebrate 1990′s “Retro Night”
Last night the Philadelphia Phillies paid homage to the terrible (or awesome depending on how you look at it) trends and style of the 1990′s with Retro Night. Each player had a special graphic when they stepped up to the plate, Waldo was in the house and apparently the walk up music included some classics too.

Meeting the Goals, and Pharming
When the Phillies started trading on July 31st, all of our goals for 2012 were pretty much re-set. Get out of last, try to get to .500, hopefully get to third place, get the guys who were hurt going good, and develop the young guys.
They've actually done pretty well at these.
The Phillies are 59-67, so not .500 yet, but they aren't just out of last, they're up...
The Phils start their series with the 1st-place Nats with a 4-2 win.
The Phils starts off their latest series with a win as they defeat the first place Nats, 4-2.
The Phils took the lead in the first as, with two men on, and with nobody out, Chase Utley hits an RBI single, knocking in Jimmy Rollins, who has started off the Phils’ half of the first with a single, then stopped at second base on Kevin Frandsen’s walk, giving the Phils a 1-0 lead...
John Mayberry Walks it off with RBI Single in Eleventh Inning; Phils win, 4-3
Cole Hamels against Johnny Cueto sounds like an awfully good pitching match-up. The two candidates for the Cy Young award battled in a pitcher's duel after a shaky and rainy first inning from Cole Hamels. Once Hamels found his groove, the Reds were in trouble.
That first inning for Cole looked like a whole lot of trouble. In the middle of a downpour, Cole gave up two singles...
Phillies 4, Reds 3(11)
John Mayberry Jr. hit an RBI single in the bottom of the 11th inning to lift the Philadelphia Phillies to a 4-3 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday night.
Todd Frazier drove in all three runs for the NL Central-leading Reds, who were seeking their first series win in Philadelphia since 2006.
The Phillies tied it in the eighth on Jimmy Rollins' sacrifice fly and won...

Nationals-Phillies Preview
Despite being separated by 19 1/2 games in the standings, the Washington Nationals have had some trouble beating the Philadelphia Phillies.
The NL East leaders, however, have yet to face them with the core of their lineup intact. That will change this weekend.
The Nationals look to exact some revenge against the only team to take a series from them since the All-Star break as they...
