The Los Angeles Dodgers Clayton Kershaw was locked up in an old-fashioned pitcher’s duel with Bronson Arroyo of the Cincinnati Reds, but the two worked to a stalemate and the game carried into 12 innings. In the top of the 12th, Matt Kemp lifted a sacrifice fly to put the Dodgers (78-53) in front of the Reds (56-73) for good, 3-2. The fly scored Manny Ramirez, who pinch-hit in the eighth and eventually led off the 12th with a walk. Ramirez would motor to third on a Juan Castro double, forcing the Reds to intentionally walk Andre Ethier to load the bases. The walk set the stage for Kemp, who homered earlier in the day, to drive home his career high 85th run of the year. Jonathan Broxton came in for the save in the bottom of the frame, and issued two walks to allow the winning run to reach base. But Broxton struck out the final two batters of the game, displaying a 100-plus MPH fastball and a 92 MPH slider to boot in earning his 29th save of the season. Kershaw, t...
