In the process, the Red Sox grabbed a 2-1 series lead by beating the Tigers, 1-0 at Comerica Park. The only offense The Carmine Hose needed came from Mike Napoli, who clouted a solo HR in the seventh inning—right after the FOX broadcast crew played his first career HR off (wait for it) a guy named Verlander. Once again, the Boston bullpen shut down the mighty Tigers—going 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief of Lackey's 6 2/3. So, Boston has beaten two of the best pitchers in baseball in back-to-back games. The win guarantees that the series will return to Fenway Park for at least a Game 6. Amazing!
