The San Francisco Giants have acquired veteran shortstop Orlando Cabrera from the Cleveland Indians. The thirty-six year old journeyman has had a knack for finding the postseason in recent years playing October in six of the last seven years. Last year he and the Cincinnati Reds won the NL Central Division before losing to the Phillies in the Divisional round of the playoffs. He has made the playoff with the Red Sox (2004), Angels (2005,2007), White Sox (2008), Twins (2009) and the Reds as mentioned before. Cabrera is a career .273 hitter who pops about 6-9 homers a year and steals a few bags. He will be in the lineup everyday and plays a decent short. Rookie Brandon Crawford has been optioned to Fresno to make room on the 25 man roster for Cabrera. The Indians receive Triple-A outfield prospect Thomas Neal in return.
