Broke from his failed video game company, former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling is auctioning off his famous bloody sock to the highest bidder. The auction, being held by Texas-based Heritage Auctions, says that online bidding opened at $25,000 and was up to $32,500 by Monday. ‘‘I wouldn’t be surprised to see it go for much more than that,’’ Ivy said, via Boston.com. ‘‘It’s definitely one of the headline grabbers.’’ A live bidding event will take place in New York City of all places. The sock is estimated to sell at about $100,000, but that’s hardly a dent of what Schilling owes to creditors.  his company, 38 Studios left Massachusetts for Rhode Island after they $75 million loan in 2010.  38 Studios then proceeded to blow the the money, then had to laid off all its employees and filed for bankruptcy. Next up on the auction block? Curt Schilling’s dignity… if he has any left.
