The Texas Rangers have released left-hander Brad Mills from his minor league contract so that he could sign to play in Japan.
Texas claimed Mills on waivers from the Los Angeles Angels during spring training and assigned him outright to Triple-A Round Rock.
Mills was 7-5 with a 3.87 ERA in 18 games (17 starts) for Round Rock. He was scheduled to participate in the Triple-A All-Star game Wednesday, but withdrew from that after reaching an agreement with the Orix Buffaloes of Nippon Professional Baseball's Pacific League.

Earlier this season, Derek Lowe made nine relief appearances for the Texas Rangers before getting cut on May 23. The 40-year-old right-hander has been unable to find another gig in the big leagues, so he’s decided to hang up the spikes for good.
Though he made a point not to call this point in his career a “retirement,” Lowe announced Wednesday that he has “officially”...

(Eds: APNewsNow. With AP Photos.) By STEPHEN HAWKINS AP Sports Writer Adrian Beltre has his quirks.
The Texas Rangers third baseman appeals his own checked swings. The Gold Glove winner really hates being touched on the head, a fact exploited by his teammates.
Beltre can deal with the head taps because he knows they come when he does something good. It happens often for Beltre...

This isn’t one of those sarcastic, rhetorical post when the girl is just completely out-of-control out. At first glance, I thought this Texas Rangers fan [in the red, with giant cans] was super hot. I was actually going to write a whole article how she was the true MVP of the 2013 All-Star game.

LET'S MAKE A DEAL
Matt Garza is on the trade block, and the Texas Rangers are a likely landing spot. But trade talks recently hit a snag.
Derek Lowe doesn't see the point in using the word "retirement" to signify the end of his 17-year major league career.
But Lowe left no room for interpretation after his practice round on Wednesday at the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament. He's done with baseball.
"I'm officially no longer going to play the game," Lowe said...
