Despite completing 7 innings, San Francisco Giants (19-14) pitcher, Tim Lincecum (now 2-2), suffered a 6-2 loss against the Philadelphia Phillies (16-18) tonight. Lincecum had 7 strikeouts, gave up 3 walks (one intentional), and had 5 earned runs for the night.
The winning pitcher was the Phillies’ Kyle Kendrick (now 4-1) who only allowed 2 earned runs.
Throughout the game, Lincecum struggled to find his rhythm and said he needed to focus on not leaving pitches in the zone.
“I was leaving pitches up in the zone and the slider lead to the home run which was up and over the plate”, he said, “ I need to focus more on those pitches and get them down.”
Chase Utley hit a solo home run to center field in the 5th inning to give the Phillies a 4-2 lead over the Giants.
