Despite completing 7 innings, San Francisco Giants (19-14) pitcher, Tim Lincecum (now 2-2), suffered a 6-2 loss against the Philadelphia Phillies (16-18) tonight. Lincecum had 7 strikeouts, gave up 3 walks (one intentional), and had 5 earned runs for the night. The winning pitcher was the Phillies’ Kyle Kendrick (now 4-1) who only allowed 2 earned runs. Throughout the game, Lincecum struggled to find his rhythm and said he needed to focus on not leaving pitches in the zone. “I was leaving pitches up in the zone and the slider lead to the home run which was up and over the plate”, he said, “ I need to focus more on those pitches and get them down.” Chase Utley hit a solo home run to center field in the 5th inning to give the Phillies a 4-2 lead over the Giants. When asked about his struggling starting rotation, manager Bruce Bochy said that their starters haven’t been consistent yet. “We haven’t been quite consistent like we normally are, which is our game,” said Bochy, “We haven’t h...

SF Giants Rumors: Sweep LA, Roster Moves, Real Pence, Mays Birthday, Etc.

The hated Dodgers came to town this weekend, and looked to end the Giants winning streak. However, they weren’t able to leave San Francisco with any wins. The San Francisco Giants swept them right out of town, and are in the midst of a six game winning streak! They’ve also already swept a series from every team in the NL West! Demoting Hector Sanchez clearly the right move for Giants

I really need to start writing these posts when the ideas pop into my head. If I had, maybe I'd have beaten the Giants to the punch when they sent Hector Sanchez down to Fresno. Luckily, I use Twitter as an extension of my brain's thoughts. Unlike my brain, Twitter comes with a time and date stamp: I wonder sometimes if Hector Sanchez should go back to Fresno to get regular...

Giants fan in McCovey Cove nearly falls overboard reaching for foul ball (Video)

Your browser does not support iframes. A San Francisco Giants fan in a canoe nearly fell overboard into the water of McCovey Cove as he reached to grab a foul ball hit by slugger Pablo Sandoval during Tuesday night's game at AT&T Park. It happened in the bottom of the third inning as Sandoval hit a deep foul ball over the right field stands into the cove, a few yards...

SF Giants Rumors: Cliff Lee Could Be On The Giants Radar

Last night didn’t go as planned for the San Francisco Giants. Cliff Lee and the Phillies pumped the brakes on the Giants six game winning streak. Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com says it’s worth the Giants’ time to pick up the phone and inquire about a possible trade for Lee. It’s not likely that the Phillies will be able to keep pace with the Braves and Nationals, so they...

Flatlulent Giants pitcher sent down to the minors

Best known in his brief tenure with the Giants for bombing the bullpen with deadly gas, Jean Machi has been optioned by the club to Triple-A Fresno. Creating awkward situations with Jose Mijares might have been the only thing Machi did wrong with the Giants, however. The right-hander surrendered just two runs in nine relief appearances. The Giants, though, did not have any room after...

Giants' Santiago Casilla Leaves Wednesday's Game

Santiago Casilla left Wednesday’s game with a right knee injury while covering first base on a grounder. After the Ben Revere groundout, the relief pitcher exited the game. Bruce Bochy stated that this injury had previously been downplayed and coming into the game Casilla was bothered by it. He got two outs, including a strikeout, before he was injured and ultimately replaced...

Could The San Francisco Giants Pitchers Have A Crack In The Armor?

As baseball has been the one constant through all the years, as quoted by James Earl Jones in the movie “Field of Dreams,” the one constant through all the years for the San Francisco Giants has been their starting pitching.  From their first World Series victory in 2010 to their latest in 2012, the position players have vastly changed with the exception of one, Buster Posey...

Giants 4, Phillies 3(10)

Andres Torres lined a game-ending single to right field with two outs in the 10th inning, lifting the San Francisco Giants to a 4-3 victory against the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday to avoid a sweep. Javier Lopez (1-0) pitched the 10th for the win after Sergio Romo blew his second save in 14 opportunities, failing to finish off Barry Zito's gem. Buster Posey hit a pinch...

Pence Takes Blame for Down 2012

When he arrived from Houston, the swing was goofy, but the work ethic was solid. No one ever accused Hunter Pence of not trying. Turns out, he was trying too hard, which is what we all saw with our own two eyes anyway. Last season, while Pence was still with the Phillies, he admitted to doing too much in the absence of the meat of the order, Chase Utley and Ryan Howard. When he arrived...

Should Giants Go After Cliff Lee in Trade?

We might only be in the first week of May, but the trade rumor mill has already begun to churn. On Monday night, after Philadelphia Phillies starter Cliff Lee spun his latest gem against the Giants, beat writer and CSN Bay Area correspondent Andrew Baggarly wrote that the Giants could potentially be suitors for the ace pitcher come trade deadline time. The Phillies are an aging team...
