Despite a gritty performance by Tim Lincecum, the Atlanta Braves capitalized on every Giants mistake, and San Francisco fell to the Braves 3-0. The Braves drew first blood against Lincecum. After Andrelton Simmons walked to lead off the game and stole second, Freddie Freeman brought him home with a two-out RBI single to give Atlanta an early 1-0 lead. Lincecum also walked the lead-off hitter, Brian McCann, in the next inning. But despite Chris Johnson following it up with a single, giving the Braves runners on first and second with nobody out, Atlanta failed to score and it remained 1-0 for the time being. For the third inning in a row, Lincecum walked the first batter of the inning. This time it was Jason Heyward. Justin Upton then grounded into a fielder’s choice, and Freeman collected his second hit of the game. Then Justin’s brother BJ would double him home, extending Atlanta’s lead to 2-0.
