Top First:






The first pitch ever thrown at the New Yankee Stadium was a strike by Chien-Ming Wang to Aaron Miles. Miles picked up the base hit ever to the left field followed by another single. RBI Sac fly by Derreck Lee. 1-0 Cubs. Miles looked out at the plate but was called safe at home plate. Great throw by Gardner in center though. 2 fly outs, 3 outs. 12 pitches ( strikes, 4 balls) after 1 for Wang. (A. Soriano was scratched by the way) .
Bottom 1st:

Captain, Derek Jeter who was the last Yankee batter to hit at the old stadium, is the first Yankee to ever lead- off at the new stadium and hits a lead-off double to left! Sac Fly by J. Damon, Jeter moves to third. M. Teixeira who's last hit at yankee stadium was a grand slam, strikes out in his 1st AB here. H. Matsui grounds out to end the inning.
Top Second:
Lead-off walk. Wang picks up his 1st strikeout on a slider. Pop out, 2 outs. Base hit. Note: The infield plays quick like turf. 2-run double for Miles. 3-0 Cubs. He was caught in a run down between second and third but Jeter was not there to cover second. Strikeout (2) ends the inning. 33 pitches after 2.
Bottom 2nd:
J. Posada picks up his 1st base hit. R. Cano with a second deck, 2-run shot to right. ( The first HR hit at the stadium) Posada scores to make it 3-2 Cubs. Two ground outs and pop up end the inning. Note: It's starting to rain again.
Top Third:
Four pitch walk. Double play. 2 outs. Nice pick by Tex at 1B. Ground out back to Wang, 3 outs. 9 pitch inning. ( 42 pitches overall) .
Bottom 3rd:
D. Jeter leads off, with another base hit to left. J. Damon, flies out. M. Teixeira, strikes out for the 2nd time tonight. Jeter runs, almost gets caught stealing but makes it back to first base in time.

H. Matsui, hits a 2-run HR bomb off the foul poul to give the Yankees a 4-3 lead. Ground out ends inning.
Top Fourth:
Strikeout. (3) Triple. RBI ground out. Tie Game. Infield hit. Stolen Base. Jorge can't get a good grip but good throw. Ground out. 3 outs. 56 pitches after 4.
Bottom 4th:
R. Cano, with a base hit to left. X. Nady, singles on a pop up to right. C. Ransom drills a 2-run HR off the LF foul pole to make it 7-3 Yanks. Line drive out.

D. Jeter walks. Fly out, pop up ends the inning.
Top Fifth:
Ground out. 1 away. Error. Bad call by the UMP as they call him safe. Pop up. 2 away. Ground out. 3 outs.
Bottom 5th:
New pitcher Aaron Heilman has a 1-2-3 inning.
