Kyle Lohse stole the spotlight from the opening of Marlins Park, holding Miami hitless for the first six innings as St. Louis won its season opener 4-1 on Wednesday. David Freese, the MVP of last season’s NLCS and World Series, drove home two first-inning runs and finished 3-for-5 for the defending world champion Cardinals (1-0). St Louis banged out 13 hits, three from Rafael Furcal, and two each from Yadier Molina and Carlos Beltran. But Lohse was the big story in the first regular-season game in the Marlins’ new $515 million home. The right-hander retired the first 10 hitters before hitting Emilio Bonifacio with a pitch with one out in the fourth. He then retired eight in a row until new Marlins’ shortstop Jose Reyes led off the seventh with a sharp single to right. Lohse gave up two hits and one run in 7.1 innings, striking out three and throwing 56 of his 90 pitches for strikes.
