The Miami Marlins are headed home after wrapping up an eleven game road trip on Sunday.   The Marlins finished the trip with a 6-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers to bring their record to 5-6 on the West swing.   The win snapped a four game losing streak after Miami had started the road trip on an up note.  Giancarlo Stanton had a big trip blasting eight home runs along the way including one in each game at Dodger Stadium.

Mark Buehrle wasn’t at his best in this one but he had enough to earn his twelfth win of the year.   It took 111 pitches for Buehrle to work his five and two third innings which is an unusually high amount for the veteran in that short of an outing.   Some of that came from the three free passes Buehrle allowed to go along with his four strikeouts.   Ryan Webb, Mike Dunn, Chat Gaudin, and Heath Bell worked two combined innings allowing a run.  Each reliever was credited with a hold before Steve Cishek entered in the eighth with two outs to pick up a four out save.  For Cishek, it was his eleventh save of the year as he continues to keep a hold on the closer role.

The Stanton home run, his 29th of the year was one of four blasts for Miami in the game.  Rob Brantly hit his first career home run while Jose Reyes added his eleventh and Carlos Lee hit his eighth.   Brantly, Lee and Greg Dobbs each had two hit days with Dobbs picking up doubles for each of his hits.

The Marlins will look to make it two in a row on Tuesday when they return home to take on the Washington Nationals after an off-day on Monday.   The scheduled pitching match-up is Ricky Nolasco and Stephen Strasburg.
