Houston Hotbed:
Anybody who completely wrote off closer Brandon Lyon after his Opening Day debacle, and to be fair Houston Hotbed was rather critical in its own right, should take note of the hard-throwing #37′s performance since:
Lyon has successfully converted all 3 save opportunities that have come his way and has not surrendered a single earned run in 5 appearances out of the bullpen. With a confident, intimidating demeanor when on the hill, it appears the right-hander has re-discovered his pitching touch and seeks to redeem himself to the fans & lowering his inflated ERA by turning in a very good 2011 season.
With Wilton Lopez having recently been placed on the disabled list, there will be more of a dependence than ever on Lyon for the Astros to be able to maintain late-inning leads and get things rolling during this important stretch of the season.
That starts with a trip up to New York to face the Mets. Check back on Houston Hotbed tomorrow for a complete Series Preview!
