(via Getty Image)After the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks and clinched the National League West title and a playoff berth, the players decided to take a dip in the D-Backs’ stadium pool, and that didn’t go over too well with the home team. And I think it was sports writer Amanda Rykoff who Tweeted something along the lines of, “If you don’t want the winning team swimming in your pool, don’t have a pool in your stadium.” Truer words have never been typed in 140 characters or less.Dodgers partial owner Magic Johnson was a guest on The Tonight Show last night and he explained to Jay Leno that he apologized to Arizona’s ownership after that little celebration, but he also vowed to wear a Dodgers Speedo if Yasiel Puig and Co. can bring a World Series title back to the City of Angels for the first time since 1988. So if seeing a 54-year old man partially naked is your bag, then the Dodgers are your team in these MLB playoffs.

With Dodgers' offense hurting, Carl Crawford could be key in playoffs

With Matt Kemp out for the season and Andre Ethier’s bum ankle likely limiting him to pinch-hitting duties in the National League Division Series, the Dodgers are going to need someone to pick up the offensive slack in the playoffs. It’s easy to call on Hanley Ramirez, who’s been the best he’s ever been this season. But even greatness has its limit. Adrian...

Magic Johnson Says He’ll Wear a Speedo, Jump Into Pool if Dodgers Win World Series (Video)

The Los Angeles Dodgers ruffled a few feathers when members of the team jumped into the pool in the outfield of Chase Field in Arizona after clinching the NL West. Members of the Diamondbacks organization called the move “classless,” after the home team specifically asked the Dodgers not to return to the field for their celebration. Earvin “Magic” Johnson, who is minority...

Previewing the NLDS – Dodgers v Braves

The National League East champion Braves will open their Division Series against the NL West champion Dodgers in Atlanta on Thursday.  The Braves won the season series 5-2, though all seven games were played before Los Angeles’ historic hot streak began in late June, and both teams had losing records in September:  13-14 for Atlanta, 12-15 for L.A.  The Braves, who have home...

Dodgers undecided on Andre Ethier's NLDS role

LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers didn't make a decision Tuesday about Andre Ethier's availability for the playoffs, and they probably won't until Thursday morning, when they must submit their 25-man roster to the National League office. But it appears likely that Ethier will make the team as a pinch-hitter and perhaps even as a center fielder if his aching left ankle improves...

Dodgers Catcher A.J. Ellis Stands Out from High-Paid Teammates, Still Drives 1999 Chevy Prism

The Dodgers boast the highest payroll in Major League Baseball, with ten players on their roster raking in more than $10 million a year. But in the midst of the big-spending ball club, overshadowed by star power and dollar signs, is A.J. Ellis. The Dodgers catcher grinded out ten seasons in minor league ball before finally catching on full-time with Los Angeles in 2012. Bill Plaschke...

Magic Johnson Must Not Want The Dodgers to Win the World Series

Magic Johnson must not want his team to win the World Series. Yeah, I know. Crazy, right? After all the team went through this season with the poor start and all the injuries it would seem that he would want to give anything to keep it going and win the big one. Wait...maybe that's what he's doing with the promise he made on Leno the other night. The owner of...

Magic Johnson Says He'll Jump In D-Backs Pool in a Speedo if Dodgers Win World Series

Magic Johnson was on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and the subject of the Dodgers' celebration in Arizona came up, as Magic is a partial owner of the Dodgers. Upon winning the NL West division, the Dodgers celebrated by leaping and splashing around in the Diamondbacks' pool, because Arizona had requested that the Dodgers not celebrate on the field at Chase Field....

Dodgers 2013 NLDS player panic ratings: Who are Dodger fans most likely to meltdown about?

*Click To Enlarge* The idea for player panic ratings has been stewing in my head since the last playoff appearance for the Dodgers, because while fans go nuts at players during the regular season, they absolutely lose sanity during the postseason. I understand that, because there’s more at stake, but sane people let it go after they calm down, while insane people let it dictate...

Magic Johnson will don a speedo if Dodgers win Series

Who will be cheering for the Los Angeles Dodgers in this year’s MLB Playoffs? Quite a few. Well, probably not as many after reading the headline. While appearing on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Dodgers owner Magic Johnson was…Read more →

Dodgers will include Andre Ethier on NLDS roster

The decision was up in the air considering Andre Ethier's limited capabilities right now.  Do the Los Angeles Dodgers leave Ethier off the NLDS roster, or do they use him in a pinch-hitting role.  The team chose the latter which means some shuffling of the lineup will be in order. Ken Gurnick of MLB.com says the Dodgers will likely include Ethier on their NLDS roster, but...

NL Playoff Preview: Los Angeles Dodgers At Atlanta Braves

Thursday marks the beginning of what should be a great NLDS (National League Divisional Series) match-up between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves. The Braves enter the series with home field advantage after earning the number two seed in the National League. The Dodgers enter the postseason with arguably the best starting rotation as the Braves enter with one of the more...

Trade With Brad's Blog: Ginterpalooza -- Maury Wills Auto, Puig/Ryu RCs (+ A Sick Fedorov Ducks' Patch)

I completed my second trade with Brad from Brad's Blog. There were many layers to our latest deal but all were fantastically awesome. Brad busted some 2013 Ginter and had a lot available for trade, and thankfully I had enough hits of Philadelphia teams lying around to entice him.First up, this awesome on-card auto of Maury Wills. It's just my second certified Wills John Hancock...

NLDS Playoff Injury Preview: Los Angeles Dodgers vs Atlanta Braves

The Braves and Dodgers have taken very different routes to the postseason; Atlanta has consistently led the NL East, pulling away from the Nationals in mid-season and never relinquishing their lead. The Dodgers were awful in the first half and were still in last place on July 1st, from which point they went 54-27 and won the NL West at a canter. Lineup consistency has been a real...
