The Philadelphia Phillies will be without their skipper, Charlie Manuel as they try to extend their season high winning streak to 6 tonight.
Charlie Manuel will be sitting out tonight’s game against the Boston Red Sox because he has been suspended by MLB for an altercation with umpire Bob Davidson on Tuesday night.
Manuel took exception to Davidson interfering with catcher Brian Schneider who was attempting to get to a third strike that had gotten away from him. Because of Davidson’s inadvertent interference, the batter was safe at first base.
Davidson gave Manuel a quick hook while Manuel was still seated in the dugout. Manuel then ran on to the field where he and Davidson had a very animated and heated exchange before Manuel was removed from the game. Davidson was heard using some colorful language, including the F bomb.
Davidson was also suspended by MLB for 1 game for repeated violations of the Commisioner’s standards for situation handling.
The Phillies will look to get to 2 games above .500 tonight for the first time this season.Similar Posts:
