After being showered with gifts and honors, Mariano Rivera lasted just 9 pitches in his final appearance at Citi Field.  With a 1-0 lead heading into the bottom of the 9th inning of a rain delayed game, Rivera, Yankee and Mets fans all thought the same thing, GAME OVER.  But Daniel Murphy blooped one the opposite way for a ground rule double, David Wright drove one up the middle to score Murphy and Wright took second on the throw home.  Lucas Duda was jammed on a cutter, but got enough of it to land in right field, Wright scored the game winning run and as quickly as you just read that, the Mets went from losing 1-0 to walking off with a 2-1 victory and taking the first two games from the Pinstripes.Mariano Rivera had been 18 of 18 in save opportunities prior to last night, a game that he actually throw out the first pitch, to John Franco.  It was also the first run scored off Rivera since May 4th against the Oakland Athletics in a non save situation.Matt Harvey and Hiroki Kuroda were both excellent in this one, combining for 15 innings and allowing just 10 hits and a single run, while striking out 17 batters.  There were no walks issued in this game.  Harvey is now just 1-0 in his last 7 starts after starting the season 4-0 in his first 4 starts.  The Yankees are now 2-3 over Kuroda's last 5 starts.Murphy, Wright and Duda each had 2 hits, but the only other Met to muster anything besides a Rick Ankiel single in the 7th with two outs.  Brett Gardner was the only Yankee to have two hits. The Toronto Blue Jays hosted the Atlanta Braves for an early day game, and it quickly turned into a slugfest.  The Braves won 7-6 in extra innings, but it was 4-3 Toronto before the 2nd inning!  Poor Blue Jays defense in the top of the first led to 3 runs for the Braves before Mark DeRosa drove in 2, Edwin Encarnacion's double drove in one and Colby Rasmus singled home DeRosa.  Jordan Schafer homered in the 2nd, Jose Bautista in the 4th, Evan Gattis and Brian McCann in the 6th, and McCann again in the 10th which would be the game winner.  J.P. Arencibia picked up his 28th RBI with a double in the 7th.For Bautista and Gattis it was their 12th home runs of the season.  Brandon Morrow started the game for Toronto but left due to forearm tightness, no surprise there!  Craig Kimbrel picked up save #16.Michael Cuddyer had 3 of the Rockies 8 hits including the game winning RBI in the 9th as Colorado beat the Houston Astros 2-1.  Jorge De La Rosa pitched another great game, but failed to win his 5th straight start.  4 of his last 5 starts have seen opposing teams score 1 or 0 runs.  Houston managed just 5 hits with 2 from J.D. Martinez, who hit his 10th double, and 2 from Ronny Cedeno who is now hitting .313.  Rafael Betancourt now has 11 saves on the year.A few years ago it would make sense that Kevin Gausman and Nathan Karns would start games for the Orioles and Nationals and both struggle, but nowadays these two teams are playing for playoff berth.  Gausman gave up 3 home runs in 4 innings, including a 3 run bomb to Adam LaRoche and a two run jack to Tyler Moore.  Karns gave up Chris Davis' 17th home run and J.J. Hardy's 10th.  LaRoche added an 8th inning home run to give him 10 on the year and the Nats won 9-3.Jason Grilli has been unbelievable this season and has now saved 21 consecutive games as the Pittsburgh Pirates shut out the Detroit Tigers!  Grilli struck out Torii Hunter, Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder to earn the save!  He now has 37 strike outs in just 23.2 innings pitched!  Neil Walker's 3rd homer in the 11th inning was the only run of the game that was started by Jeanmar Gomez and Rick Porcello.  Walker had 3 of the games 11 hits.  Porcello is not known for his ability to make batters swing and miss but he did strike out 11 Bucs.  Gomez is just 2-0 but the Pirates are 6-0 in his starts.Mat Latos improved to 5-0 as the Cincinnati Reds beat up on the Cleveland Indians 8-2.  Just 4 of the Reds 18 hits went for XBH (all doubles) and 7 batters had multi hit games.  Zach Cozart and Xavier Paul each had 3 hits.  Jay Bruce hit his 17th double and Shin-Soo Choo collected his 12th.  Michael Bourn had 2 of the Indians 7 hits and drove in a run.Cliff Lee improved to 6-2 and Ryan Dempster fell to 2-6 as the Phillies beat the Red Sox 3-1.  Jonathon Papelbon picked up his 10th save.  The Sox had just 4 single off Lee who struck out 8 batters.  Michael Young and Domonic Brown homered for the Phils.Jedd Gyorko and Alexei Amarista powered teh Padres to a 6-1 victory over the Mariners.  Edinson Volquez picked up his 4th W and lasted 7.2 innings.  Carlos Quentin was the only hitter to pick up 2 hits.Derek Norris and Adam Rosales homered for the Athletics in a 6-3 win over the Giants.  Hunter Pence homered for San Francisco.  Jarrod Parker earned the W for Oakland, just his 3rd of the season, but he has been MUCH better in May with a 3.62 ERA compared to an ERA over 7 in April. The Kansas City Royals managed just 2 hits off of Tyler Lyons and the St. Louis Cardinals bullpen in a 3-1 loss.  Edward Mujia saved his 16th game of the year.  Not bad for a fill in!  Ervin Santana was the unlucky pitcher for the Royals this time, and he has lost his last 4 starts, with the Royals losing his last 5, as they watch his ERA climb from 2.00 to 3.33 over that span.  Carlos Beltran, Matt Holliday and Matt Carpenter homered for the Cards.Jeremy Hellickson should be embarrased, allowing 5 runs to the Miami Marlins.  The Rays bats bailed him out though as they would score 7 runs, and Desmond Jennings had a wakl off hit that scored Kelly Johnson.  Jennings Luke Scott and Yunel Escobar each had 3 hits for Tampa Bay.  Marcell Ozuna picked up his 8th double and is hitting .313 for the Marlins.Hyun-Jin Ryu pitched a complete game 2 hit shutout for the Dogers over the Angels in a 3-0 victory.  Ru improved to 6-2 and is 3-0 in his last 4 starts.  Chris Iannetta hit a double and Howie Kendrick's single were all the Angels bats could come up with.  Luis Cruz hit a two run homer in the 5th inning off Joe Blanton who is now 1-8.  Ryan Doumit, Josh Willingham and Aaron Hicks homered for the Twins in a 14 inning win over the Brewers.  Jean Segura had 6 of the Brewers 13 hits in a losing effort.  The two teams combined to strike out 24 times in this 4 hour and 43 minute contest! The Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox were rained out
