While rumors continued to swirl about teams interested in Mariners' frontline starting pitching, the M's made their first deal prior to the Sunday deadline: Outfielder Ryan Langerhans was sent to the Arizona Diamondbacks for cash considerations. Langerhans, who has been playing in Tacoma, will report to the Diamondbacks' Triple-A affiliate in Reno. His spot on Tacoma's roster will be filled by outfielder Wily Mo Pena, acquired earlier in the week after being released by the Diamondbacks. Langerhans, 31, was hitting .313 with 16 homers and 37 RBIs in 57 games with the Rainiers. He hit .173 in 19 games for the Mariners this year. Langerhans was originally acquired from the Nationals in 2009 in exchange for Mike Morse.
