Ellis has been enjoying success at the plate since coming over from Oakland, especially at Coors Field. Although Mark Ellis has only been a member of the Colorado Rockies for six games (including Wednesday night’s game at Atlanta), he has made a huge impact on the team.  No one is going to confuse Ellis with Chase Utley, but he is exactly what the Rockies needed. (Although, if the only time you have ever seen Ellis play had been these past six games, then you might think of him as Utley-esqe.)  Either way, Ellis has already filled a huge hole for the Rockies. Second base has been a question mark for Colorado all season.  Prior to the trade that brought Ellis in from the Oakland Athletics, six different Rockies players had combined to start 81 games at second base.  Even though Jonathan Herrera started the majority of those games, Ellis’s career numbers indicate that he is an upgrade over Herrera for now.  The Rockies have a team that is, on paper, ready to contend now.  Even with ...
