Found November 02, 2012 on FootBasket:
Mark McGwire will no longer serve as the St. Louis Cardinals hitting coach, as he will leave the team after three seasons to accept a similar position with the Los Angeles Dodgers, reports the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. McGwire’s deal to go to Los Angeles hasn’t been made a official yet, but it will be finalized soon. McGwire was offered a contract extension with the Cardinals, but he will decline it. McGwire was leaning towards signing with the Dodgers and Don Mattingly‘s staff, as accepting the position there would be very beneficial for the 49-year-old. The big reason, as the Post-Dispatch says, is due to the location. McGwire and his family live in Orange County and says that his wife and children play a big role in these types of decisions, which is why he will most likely be with the Dodgers now. The Cardinals have not made any comment about this situation yet, but once the deal comes through, it will first be announced by the Dodgers organization. We’ll see what happens in these next coming days. The post Mark McGwire Leaving Cardinals for Dodgers Job appeared first on FootBasket.

Mark McGwire may be leaving the Cardinals for the Dodgers. He's been the hitting coach for St. Louis the past two seasons, but he might want to move.

Dodgers tab Mark McGwire as their next hitting coach

Well, that certainly came out of nowhere. When Dave Hansen was dismissed as the Dodgers' hitting coach on Oct. 12, I don't think one person thought Mark McGwire would be the man to replace him. But here we are, nearly a month later and that's exactly what's happening. From the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: "Mark McGwire will leave the Cardinals as hitting...

Plenty Of Pitching Options For Dodgers

By SBRForum.com The Los Angeles Dodgers would appear to have a pretty good team on paper heading into the 2012 offseason. They’ve got their outfield locked up with Andre Ethier, Carl Crawford and Matt Kemp – all of whom should be healthy by spring training – and the infield looks to be in good shape. If there is one area where the Dodgers might want to put some focus, it...

Cardinals make Lohse qualifying offer

The Cardinals made free agent starter Kyle Lohse a qualifying offer by Friday's deadline, mostly done as a requirement to receive an extra draft pick should he sign elsewhere. General manager John Mozeliak recently said it would be unlikely the club would resign Lohse given what he will likely command in the free agent market this winter. But by making him the one-year, 13.3...

Cardinals need to lock up Wainwright soon

ST. LOUIS - The Cardinals need to pony up and pay Adam Wainwright. Soon. The club made the right decision to let Albert Pujols leave. They also made the right choice by locking up Gold Glove catcher Yadier Molina. Now its Wainwrights turn, and the Cardinals need to do whatever it takes to bring him back as well. Wainwright has one year remaining on his current contract and is set...

Dodgers Will Revisit Pitching Needs As Offseason Begins

By SBRForum.com Manager Don Mattingly believed that the Los Angeles Dodgers squad he brought out of spring training would be good enough to make the playoffs. Although few people believed him, the team’s 31-13 start proved otherwise. Along the way, the Dodgers added a slew of talented veterans, including Hanley Ramirez, Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzalez, and along with Matt...

Injury Roll Call: Javy Guerra Shoulder Surgery, Chad Billingsley Progresses

Javy Guerra, following an injury-plagued 2012 season, underwent arthroscopic shoulder surgery on his throwing shoulder. His laundry list of injuries this year ranged from an oblique to a knee to his shoulder to his head. The Dodgers expect him to be fully ready to go by Spring Training, and he’ll be a solid contributor in middle to late relief yet again. —– In brighter news...

Big Mac Leaves St. Louis

One year ago, Cardinal Nation tasted the very definition of bittersweet as the team reveled in its 11th—and inarguably most dramatic and improbable—World Series Championship while also saying goodbye to Tony La Russa and Dave Duncan, the outgoing brain trust of so much on-the-field success over a decade and a half in St. Louis. Their departure set in motion a transfer of eras...

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Dodgers reliever Javy Guerra had right shoulder surgery on Friday.
