The NFL's replacement refs have had some people frustrated the past couple of weeks, but that frustration pales in comparison to some of the incidents involving Major League Baseball umpires recently. A day after Matt Kemp and Don Mattingly blew up on home plate umpire Angel Campos, Orioles first baseman Mark Reynolds did some venting of his own. Reynolds was ejected in the Orioles' 5-3 loss to the Tigers on Friday night. An ejection is enough to get any player hot under the collar, but the circumstances of Reynolds' dismissal were rather bizarre, and the veteran was none too pleased....

Baltimore Orioles face tough stretch to end August

A couple of weeks ago the Baltimore Orioles grabbed first place in the wild card race. Winning 4 of their last 5 series things were looking promising in Baltimore. But then two straight 5-3 losses and the Orioles are teetering on the edge of the playoffs. Manny Machado has cooled and can’t seem to hit like he was just a week ago. Mark Reynolds and Omar Quintanilla too have seemingly...

Hall of Famer Eddie Murray recently found himself in the crosshairs of the SEC due to insider trading, but will avoid jail time after agreeing to pay a fine.

A Loss in Motown, Reynolds Gets Tossed and Speaks His Mind...

Well, we as fans knew last night was going to be tough against the Tigers in Detroit. Obviously, it was. Last night, the Orioles lost their first contest in their three-game set against the Tigers, 5-3. The game was frustrating on some many levels, as Tommy Hunter tossed a typical Tommy Hunter start and the bullpen could not hold a 3-3 tie in the eighth inning. Then again, the...

Orioles recall LHP Britton from Class AAA

The Baltimore Orioles recalled left-hander Zach Britton from Class AAA Norfolk and optioned infielder Joe Mahoney to the Tides, the club announced Saturday. Britton will start Saturday's game against the Detroit Tigers. Britton is 1-1 with an 8.10 ERA in five starts for Baltimore this year. Mahoney went 0-for-4 in two games for the Orioles.

Red Sox Must Slow Mark Reynolds in Attempt to Salvage Series Finale With Orioles

Editor's note: The temperature gauge is a Bill James-created statistic that measures how hot or cold hitters are. We will spotlight Red Sox and opposing team temperatures on game days. Mark Reynolds always welcomes a visit from the Red Sox. The Orioles infielder, who always seems to hit Boston pitching well, has done just that in this current three-game series. Baltimore will...

Mark Reynolds' Pending Addition to Esteemed Group of Red Sox Killers Remains Baffling (Video)

Mark Reynolds is getting hot, so the Red Sox are going to have to find a way to cool him down. Does he like hitting against Boston? Is he just locked in right now and the Sox are the unfortunate victims? These are the questions that NESN Nation's Dan Duquette is considering while the Orioles designated hitter continues to hit home runs. See more in the above video. Join NESN...

Orioles Cannot Complete Sweep; The Road Trip Ahead...

The Orioles could not finish their three game sweep over Boston, and they lost 6-3 on Thursday night. Chris Tillman had a so-so outing, the bullpen could not hold a tie throughout the middle of last night’s game and the offense got handcuffed after the second inning. Despite the loss, the Orioles did finish off a successful homestand, going 7-3, and sticking around in the playoff...

Replay, Bud. Replay

Buck Showalter had every reason to be red in the face at the the call reversal that occurred in the sixth inning of the Baltimore Orioles game against the Tigers. And Major League Baseball should be red in the face too...with embarrassment. The original call by the first base umpire was correct. Mark Reynolds kept his foot on the bag on the throw from Manny Machado to get Peralta...

Orioles 7, Tigers 5

Nate McLouth hit a go-ahead, two-run triple and the Baltimore Orioles rallied to beat the Detroit Tigers 7-5 on Sunday. McLouth, Nick Markakis and Mark Reynolds each had two hits for the Orioles, who have won five of seven, including the last two of the key weekend series at Detroit. Chris Davis homered for the second straight game and J.J. Hardy had a two-run double. Baltimore...

Just keep winning

That is all the Orioles need to do, it is what they have to do, and it is what they are doing. The need to keep winning to inch ever closer to that magic number 82. After today's come-from-behind victory, and series win, in Detroit the Orioles sit at 66-55 a mere 16 games under .500. With every win the Orioles make a winning season a little less fantasy and a little more reality...

Tigers blow 5-run lead, fall to Orioles and in standings

The Detroit Tiger’s (64-57) bats got started early scoring five runs in the first inning, but gave it right back the very next inning. The Baltimore Orioles (66-55) scored four in the second inning, then tied it, and gained the lead in a 3-run, fourth inning. The Orioles never looked back as they won third game, and this weekend series, on a final score of 7-5. The Tiger’s offense...

Orioles-Rangers Preview

Miguel Gonzalez is pleased to be contributing to the Baltimore Orioles' playoff push. He's probably happy he wasn't with them the last time they saw Josh Hamilton. The Texas Rangers slugger, who had the best series of his season back in May against the Orioles, will get his first look at Gonzalez in Monday night's opener of a three-game set in Arlington. Baltimore...

Do Major League Umpires Have Enough Accountability for Their Actions?

For as long as there have been umpires, there has been umpire controversy. And until the human race develops to a point where no one ever makes mistakes, people will complain about umpires. The latest individual to voice his frustration was Orioles first baseman Mark Reynolds, who was the victim of a bad call in the fifth inning of Friday night's game against the Tigers. On the...
