The Rangers would be looking for Jeremy Bonderman and Chris Shelton in return. If 'MLB Rumors Periscope' is correct, Chris Shelton is the player holding up the deal. Detroit isn't quite ready to give up on 'Red Pop' just yet.

  • If Shelton made it to Texas he would automatically become one of the most overhyped fantasy picks heading into next year. He had a hot start in 2006 so people will only expect him to magically fix all his problems with a move to a better ballpark. They thought the same thing for Brad Wilkerson last year. News flash, hitters parks dont fix strikeout problems.
  • this is a terrible trade, Tex makes way more than Bonderman does. Cheap pitching is much more valuable than expensive hitting. And to top it off, Tex had a down year. No wonder Detroit won't give up Shelton as a throw in. They aren't stupid, well they are if they trade a 23 year old ace who hasn't reached his prime.
  • I was expecting people to take the opposite side here, but you're right. Cheap frontline pitching is hard to come by. It will be interesting to see if this rumor has legs.
  • What's the source on this rumor?
  • MLB Rumors Periscope
