MIAMI (AP) -- Ryan Ludwick hit a go-ahead single in the 11th inning to lift the Cincinnati Reds to a 5-4 win over the Miami Marlins on Sunday.
Ludwick, Dioner Navarro, and Didi Gregorius each had three hits for the Reds, who tied a season high with 17 hits.
Jonathan Broxton came on to pitch the bottom of the 11th for his second save with the Reds.
Carlos Zambrano (7-10) was the Marlins' ninth pitcher of the game when he came on to pitch the 11th. Zambrano issued a lead-off single to Chris Heisey and walked Joey Votto before Ludwick singled through the left side scoring Heisey for a 5-4 lead.
Miami had an opportunity to score in the 10th when Giancarlo Stanton came to the plate with two runners on, but Logan Ondrusek (4-2) struck him out.
Donovan Solano drew a two-out walk from Broxton, who got John Buck to fly out to the deepest part of the ballpark to end the game. Buck's deep fly to center field was caught by Drew Stubbs.
Jose Reyes hit a tying double off the right-field wall in the eighth inning off Mat Latos.
Reyes had three hits to lead the Marlins, who were searching for their first three-game sweep since June 29-July 1 when they swept Philadelphia.
Latos pitched 7 2-3 innings allowing four runs and seven hits. He struck out eight and walked three.
Gregorius' RBI single and Brandon Phillips's RBI ground out gave the Reds an early 2-0 lead.
Miami tied the game at 2-all with a two-run triple by Greg Dobbs.
Navarro's RBI single allowed the Reds to re-gain the lead at 3-2.
Cincinnati took a 4-2 lead after an RBI single by Ludwick in the sixth. The Marlins cut the deficit to 4-3 on a sacrifice fly by Donovan Solano.
Marlins starter Ricky Nolasco allowed three runs and 10 hits in five innings. Nolasco had won his last three starts including two shutouts over Washington.

The Reds kept themselves from being swept by the Marlins yesterday. The Reds lost the lead twice before Ryan Ludwick knocked in Chris Heisey in the eleventh inning. It took the team 17 hits to get its 5 runs. Joey Votto went 2-for-4 with 2 walks. Dude is an on-base machine.

Reds Tony Cingrani Sails to Cincy
With a 1.73 ERA including a 172/58 strikeout-to-walk ratio across two levels, Cincinnati Reds prospect Tony Cingrani was arguably the best pitcher in minor league baseball from a statistical standpoint. That success earned the left-hander a call up to the show where Cingrani has struck out eight, while walking only a single batter in four-plus innings pitched. Drafted in 2011, the...
Arizona League Reds Season in Review
To be blunt, the Arizona League Reds were terrible. They won just 18 games and finished with 38 losses, dead last in the league. There were some players worth noting on the roster, but the team as a whole simply couldn’t put together the wins and finished 16.5 games back of first place.
They did start the season off right, winning their first game on June the 20th. However they...
Marlins go for a sweep of Cincy in series finale

Marlins try to put another dent in Cincinnati
Although the Cincinnati Reds are running away with the NL Central, there are some growing concerns for Dusty Baker's club. Their offense is suddenly sputtering, and ace Johnny Cueto seems like he's hit a wall.
Cueto tries to avoid losing three straight starts for the first time in three years, while the visiting Reds look to bounce back from one of their worst offensive...

Game 146: Waiting for the Cardinals to lose again
Perhaps it’s the 4 pints of beer talking, but the Cincinnati Reds are playing like I feel when I watch them: I’ve already entered the play-off tickets sweepstakes, let’s get the season over with already.
The Reds lost the series to the Florida Miami Marlins today when Johnny Cueto had another crappy start. When Cueto doesn’t win the Cy Young award, look back to this start...
Prime Nine: Cincinnati Reds
Finally, we get to the end of the prime nine series. The Reds are a perfect example of what happens to a farm system when a team becomes successful. They are on their way to their second divisional championship in three seasons. This year’s team in particular seems to be poised to make a run at the pennant. They obviously will have a lot of competition from the Nats...

Marlins' LeBlanc takes on the Braves at home
By sweeping a series from the NL East leaders, the Atlanta Braves have managed to stay in the conversation for the division crown.
A far more realistic way to make the playoffs is securing the NL's first wild card, and a series with the last-place Miami Marlins should help with that endeavor, especially with Tim Hudson set to pitch.
Hudson looks to win his fifth straight start...
