San Francisco Giants: Giants need to resign Tim Lincecum

Despite his 6-12 record and 4.38 ERA, Tim Lincecum is part of the Giants future and needs to be resigned. His record and ERA look ugly, but upon further examination of his every start, it’s easy to see that he should be a 500 pitcher if given proper run support and good defensive support. Granted, Lincecum has been inconsistent this season, but 8 out of his last 10 starts have...

Fighting Fire With Fire: Why the San Francisco Giants Should Be Major Players for Robinson Cano

This is not going to be a popular article. History shows that players who make over 20 Million Dollars per year for multiple years, usually kill franchises in the long run. But the Giants have a big problem in the NL West: The Dodgers. The Dodgers have more money than the federal government, and spend like the federal government too. They can literally buy everybody, and that means...

2014 San Francisco Giants Contract/Payroll Scenarios

The San Francisco Giants have some options for next season. Their contract/payroll situation for 2014 looks like this. I’ve included some scenarios, and my predictions of players next contracts: Brandon Belt – Minimum (Arbitration) Brandon Crawford – Minimum (Arbitration) Tim Lincecum – 20.25 Mil – Expires 2013 –  1 yr qualifying offer – 13 Mil Barry Zito – 18 Mil...

“Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?” Giancarlo Stanton

Going into the 2012 season, Stanton was expected to be the focal point and franchise player of an All-Star Marlins team. Heading into 2013, Stanton was essentially the only recognizable name remaining on the Marlins after the blockbuster trade with the Blue Jays. On the 45-73 Marlins, Stanton often finds himself sandwiched in between “All-World” players Adeiny Hechevarria and...

Giants' Sandy Rosario hit by line drive

San Francisco Giants right-hander Sandy Rosario exited last night's contest against the Washington Nationals after being struck on the sternum by a line drive off the bat of Adam LaRoche. Manager Bruce Bochy told reporters -- including Chris Haft of MLB.com -- that, as a result of the comebacker, Rosario could be sidelined for a few days. The incident occurred in the seventh...

Mike Redmond mostly on board with replay challenges

MIAMI -- Miami Marlins manager Mike Redmond liked the idea of being able to challenge reviewable on-field calls, though MLB's new replay pitch did raise a few questions in his mind. "I definitely have some concerns, probably like anyone does about the challenges, but I'm sure those will all be answered in time," Redmond said before Friday night's homestand...

Hector Sanchez hit a three-run homer, Pablo Sandoval had four hits and three RBIs, and Brandon Belt had four hits and scored four runs for the Giants, who set season highs for runs and hits (19). Giants Top Marlins in a Wild Night in Miami

The Giants scored 14 runs against the Marlins in their largest offensive output of the 2013 season. Both teams combined for 31 hits, 24 runs, seven doubles, three triples and three home runs. Much of the Giant’s offense came from the heart of the order. Brandon Belt extended his 10-game hitting streak with a 4-6 night to go along with four runs and one RBI. Hunter Pence had three...

Sanchez, Giants rally to down Nats

Pinch-hitter Hector Sanchez stepped to the plate with one thought in mind against Washington Nationals closer Rafael Soriano: Look for a fastball. After being on the right side of a borderline call with the game on the line in the top of the ninth, Sanchez was ready for the next one. With a full count, he drove a three-run homer just inside the right field foul pole in the second...

Giants-Marlins Preview

The San Francisco Giants and Miami Marlins can partially attribute their disappointing seasons to struggling offenses that have scored fewer runs than any other in the NL. Chad Gaudin and especially Miami starter Nathan Eovaldi are plenty familiar with their team's scoring woes. Eovaldi hasn't received any run support in his last five starts, and he'll oppose Gaudin...

Stanton homers in Marlins' 6-4 loss to Giants

Giancarlo Stanton said he was hit by a pitch on the wrist. He could not prove it to home plate umpire David Rackley so he picked himself off the ground after Matt Cain's pitch brushed him back and hit the next one over the left-center field wall for a two-run home run that went an estimated at 446 feet. ''I'll take it instead of a hit-by-pitch,'' Stanton...

Giants 4, Nationals 3

Pinch-hitter Hector Sanchez hit a three-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning, helping the San Francisco Giants beat the Washington Nationals 4-3 on Thursday. Down to his last strike, Sanchez connected off Nationals closer Rafael Soriano (2-3) on a full-count pitch. The drive landed just inside the right field foul pole in the second deck. Sergio Romo worked a scoreless bottom...

Panda wins race, Giants win game 6-4 over Marlins

Pablo Sandoval was visibly giddy as he talked about getting the Giants a win with his speed. No need to clean your cheaters. You read that right. Sandoval has lost 22 pounds in the past six weeks. When asked if two months ago he could have beaten Marlins first baseman Logan Morrison to the bag for the infield hit that keyed Saturday night's 6-4 victory against the Marlins Sandoval...
