The rain on Wednesday night did not stop the Miami Marlins from scoring 6 runs against the Atlanta Braves.  The Marlins were able to beat the Braves 6-3, to force a rubber game in the series on Thursday. During Tuesday’s game, the Marlins jumped out to a 2-0 lead, and it was the Braves turn to do so on Wednesday. In the 3rd inning, an Andrelton Simmons single scored B.J. Upton and gave the Braves a 1-0 lead. They added their second run of the ballgame in the 4th inning off Marlins starter, Ricky Nolasco.  Brian McCann hit his 8th career home run against Nolasco, to give the Braves a 2-0 lead. It is a fact that most walks end up hurting you.  A walk to the pitcher really hurt the Braves in the 5th inning.  Mike Minor gave up a two out walk to Nolasco that gave Justin Ruggiano, the Marlins lead off man, a chance to hit in the inning. Ruggiano then homered to left field and put the Marlins up 3-2. The Marlins were able to add insurance runs in both the 6th and 8th innings. In the 6th inning, it was a double by Adeiny Hechavarria, the Marlins shortstop, that added a run.  Placido Polanco was able to score on the double and increase the lead to 4-2. It was another double that added a run for the Marlins in the 8th.  This double was off the bat of catcher, Jeff Mathis. Donovan Solano and Hechavarria were able to score the Marlins 5th and 6th runs of the ballgame. The Braves added a run in the 9th, but it would not be enough, as they fell to the Marlins 6-3.  The Braves added that last run on a single by Chris Johnson. Andrelton Simmons, Freddie Freeman, and Chris Johnson all finished Wednesday’s game 2-4.  Although the Braves only scored 3, every position player recorded a hit, except for Justin Upton.  Upton finished the night 0-4. Julio Teheran looks to continue his streak of good starts tomorrow night in the rubber match of the series.
