It’s only been a very short period of time since we heard the initial news that the Cubs are close to sending Carlos Zambrano to the Miami Marlins in a trade.
Now we are hearing some of the names that could go along with that trade. The one name that looks like he could be coming back to Chicago in a potential trade is Chris Volstad. According to Jon Heyman, that appears to be just the case.

Volstad’s name is one we’ve heard for quite a bit now in trade rumors across the league, as he’s a guy that would likely benefit from a change of scenery. After a solid first season, Volstad has had three very disappointing seasons, with his lowest ERA over that span at a 4.58 in 2010.
Nonetheless, Volstad is st...

Marlins Trade for Zambrano
Tonight the Marlins have seemed to have solidified the fifth spot in their rotation by trading Chris Volstad to the Chicago Cubs for right handed pitcher Carlos Zambrano. With the Cubs picking up the majority of whats left on his contract and only taking Chris Volstad back in return, it seems as though the 31 year old Venezuelan native just became to much trouble than he was worth...

Zambrano issues classy statement
MIAMI — Newly acquired Marlins right-hander Carlos Zambrano, who had his share of success and controversy while with the Cubs, issued a classy parting statement to the people of Chicago.
“I’d like to thank the Chicago media and reporters for more than 10 years covering me and supporting me in the good times and bad,” Zambrano said. “I tried my best to answer all your...
Volstad Heads to Chicago
Let the Theo Epstein overhaul continue. Matt Garza may have been the most popular name tossed around this off-season, but Carlos Zambrano was the first Chicago Cubs’ pitcher to be traded. After three injury-riddled season — and a ton of headaches — the Cubs elected to deal the sole survivor of the Dusty Baker era to the Miami Marlins. In return, the Chicago Cubs...

Report: Marlins Close to Acquiring Carlos Zambrano From Cubs
Carlos Zambrano was once considered a top-flight starter in Chicago. After some problems with the Cubs organization, though, he's become an afterthought across much of Major League Baseball. Not for the Miami Marlins. The Marlins are close to acquiring the 30-year-old hurler from the Cubs, FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports. Zambrano would need to waive his no-trade clause...

Controversial pitcher goes to Marlins for once-promising starterThe only logical conclusion to Carlos Zambrano's long-and-stormy pitching career with the Cubs will be the same as Ozzie Guillen's long-and stormy managerial career with the White Sox:
Bye Bye Z
In my last article, I predicted that former Chicago Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano would have a break out season under new management. Well we will never know now. Zambrono has been traded to the Miami Marlins and former Chicago White Sox manager, Ozzie Guillen. During his 11 seasons with the Cubs, Zambrano amassed a record [...]
Theo Epstein was prepared to cut Carlos Zambrano, if necessary
Cubs president Theo Epstein said he wasn’t trying to make a particular point when he traded Carlos Zambrano to the Miami Marlins for a choirboy this week. “You don’t have to be a choirboy to be accepted into the Cubs’ clubhouse,’’ Epstein said after the trade became official Thursday. But in making what promises to be the signature move of his first winter with the Cubs...

Alfonso Soriano On The Block
Theo Epstein isn’t done dealing if you believe what he said this afternoon. Hours after the Carlos Zambrano trade was finished the new general manager said he’d be willing to pursue other trades if they “made sense”. Most would assume this means Matt Garza but no today’s rumors surround outfielder Alfonso Soriano.
