The Marlins' 2013 Nationals Park record won't be pretty but at least it won't have a zero in it. Winless in their first eight games in the nation's capital the Marlins upended the Nationals 4-2 Sunday afternoon in the front end of a split doubleheader. Tom Koehler tossed six strong innings for his first win in more than a month and Giancarlo Stanton and Christian Yelich each homered. The Nationals' loss clinched the National League East for the Braves. "I didn't know we were 0-for-Washington this year but it was good to get them" Yelich said. With his 32nd save Steve Cishek matched Todd Jones (2005) for club's all-time consecutive saves mark. For Cishek who last blew a save on June 4 the 27 straight also is the longest active streak in the majors. "I didn't imagine getting this many or a team record or anything like that" Cishek said. "I had a little more adrenaline pumping. It felt like a playoff atmosphere. The fans were really into it. Those guys were digging in there and every at-bat was huge for them. It felt good to come out and win a game like that…Washington's been tough to us so to be able to pull that one out was nice." Koehler had pitched 15 consecutive scoreless innings before Zimmerman drove a 2-1 sixth-inning offering into the left-center field seats above the "#NATITUDE" sign for a two-run shot. Zimmerman's 26th homer also was his fifth in 72 at-bats against the Marlins this season. He finished the game 2-for-4 raising his 2013 average against them to .329 (24-for-73) with seven extra-base hits and 13 RBI in 18 games. The lone walk Koehler issued was to Denard Span immediately before Zimmerman went deep. For the first time in 23 career starts Koehler failed to strike out at least one batter. He did induce a pair of double play balls to eliminate two of the first three Nationals' hitters who reached.
