MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Minnesota Twins have pre-emptively postponed their game against the Miami Marlins, due to approaching inclement weather. The Twins announced almost seven hours before the scheduled start time on Monday that they'll play the Marlins instead on Tuesday night as the second half of a split doubleheader. The two teams already were slated to play on Tuesday afternoon. This is only a two-game series. Four of Minnesota's last eight schedule games have been wiped out before they began because of weather problems, including three at home. That matched their previous season high for postponements at Target Field, in 2011. Monday's game was called while the temperature was 45 degrees, before any rain fell. But the forecast was calling for a wet night, turning to heavy snow.

Twins Tuesday: Frequent postponements havent hurt Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS The Minnesota Twins are tied for having the longest winning streak in the American League. In fact, they haven't lost in 10 days. Those numbers are a bit deceiving, obviously, as Minnesota has played just four games since April 13. Due to four postponements and a scheduled day off, there hasn't been much consistency in the Twins' schedule. After losing to...

Twins always knew Redmond was manager material

MINNEAPOLIS Mike Redmond was known for his infamous naked batting practice during his days as a player. But the veteran catcher and former Minnesota Twin was also known as a leader in the clubhouse and essentially another coach in the dugout. So it came as no surprise to anyone, especially in Minnesota's organization, when Redmond took a job as a manager in Toronto's minor...

Twins, Marlins double down after snowy night

The Minnesota Twins and Miami Marlins finished at the bottom of their divisions in 2012. While things appear to be looking up for the Twins, the Marlins may be even worse off. Minnesota can match its longest winning streak from 2012 when it meets visiting Miami in the opener of a split doubleheader Tuesday. A 5-3 road win against the White Sox on Sunday gave the Twins (8-7) their...

Fernandez gives up runs, Marlins fall to Twins

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Oswaldo Arcia hit his first career home run and Kevin Correia gave up two runs in seven innings, leading the Minnesota Twins over the Miami Marlins 4-3 Tuesday in the opener of a day-night doubleheader. Arcia's three-run homer in the fourth backed Correia (2-1), who allowed five hits and struck out five. The Twins shrugged off yet another chilly day at Target...

Marlins beat Twins to split day-night doubleheader

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Rob Brantly had three hits and a career-high four RBIs and the Miami Marlins' offense broke out of a season-long funk to beat the Minnesota Twins 8-5 on Tuesday night and earn a split in the day-night doubleheader. Brantly had two doubles and Ricky Nolasco (1-2) allowed two earned runs on six hits in five innings for the Marlins, who won for just the fifth...

Twinbill Split

The Miami Marlins split a doubleheader on Tuesday in Minnesota with the Twins taking game one 4-3 before the fish took the second game 8-5.   The split moves Miami to 5-16 on the season.   The doubleheader was needed after Monday’s game was snowed out in what was the Marlins’ first interleague series of the season. Jose Fernandez started game one and allowed four runs in his...

Marlins rookie Jose Fernandez sees snow for first time in life

Seeing snow in Minnesota during the month of April isn't all that unusual. In fact, folks around the state are pretty accustomed to it.What is unusual, though, is seeing snow at all for Miami Marlins rookie pitcher Jose Fernandez. Apparently, the 20-year-old had never seen snow flakes until Monday when Miami's game against the Twins was postponed due to inclement weather...

Twins 5, White Sox 3

For Josh Willingham, that flub in the fourth was an eternity ago when he came to the plate in a big spot for the Minnesota Twins. It was just about coming up with another clutch hit. Willingham atoned for an earlier misplay with a tiebreaking three-run double in Minnesota's four-run seventh inning, leading the Twins to a 5-3 victory over the slumping Chicago White Sox on Sunday...

Justin Upton And Six Others Have More Home Runs Than The Miami Marlins

Everyone anticipated that the Miami Marlins were going to be offensively challenged after trading the likes of Jose Reyes and others during their offseason fire-sale. However, after 19 contests the Marlins are a pathetic 4-15 nestled in the basement of the NL East . In 688 plate appearances Marlins hitters have gone yard only six times on the season, that is an average of one home...

The Struggles of Giancarlo Stanton

Giancarlo Stanton was on the brink of stardom and ready to challenge the world as MLB's perennial homerun champion (crushed 93 HR through his age 22 season).  However, his team (Miami Marlins) traded away the rest of the club's talent and provided him with no supporting cast. This season has been a complete waste.  He's yet to hit a homerun, and only yesterday...

Closing Game with the Minnesota Twins.

Morning Kids, Struggling a little here to get woke up to bring you this game. It was a heartbreaking loss in extra innings yesterday, so lets hope the boys have put it behind them and we can get a win today.  Fingers crossed we can get a video feed today. As far as I know it’s still Gavin Floyd with the pass to the mound today. A year ago today Philip Humber threw the...

How Big a Year is This for Giancarlo Stanton?

The Marlins and the Twins are playing a doubleheader on Tuesday. In the first inning of the first game, Giancarlo Stanton faced Kevin Correia with a man on, and Correia threw a first-pitch fastball at 89 miles per hour down the heart. Stanton swung and grounded into a double play, and one of the Marlins’ broadcasters remarked that it was probably Stanton’s best swing in a week...
